Congratulations to Ms. Calendra Williams, a first-grade teacher at Michael R. Hollis Innovation Academy, for being named a 2025 Don Cargill STEM Scholar. The Georgia Youth Science & Technology Center (GYSTC) honors teachers who effectively integrate STEM education. Don Cargill STEM Scholars inspire students to explore advanced science, technology, engineering, and mathematics opportunities. Ms. Williams is excited to use her grant to buy fun STEM materials for her first graders to build their birdhouses! In this project, the students will explore the fascinating world of birds, learn about their habitats, and discover what they need to thrive. They'll work together to design and create outside birdhouses, giving real birds a cozy home! #APSExcellence #AtlantaPublicSchools

On this #GivingTuesday, GYSTC wants to announce our 2025 Don Cargill STEM Scholar Award Recipients. As a part of this special recognition, the school district will receive a $500 grant for the awardee to purchase STEM education materials for their classroom.
