It was good to catch up with women at #WAConf23 yesterday. For personal reasons, I can't be there today but I hope everyone has a great day two. The speeches enjoyed most yesterday were @FarahNazeer @VeraBaird, Jane Lemom and @HWistrich . See you next year (if not before).

@McKJen8 @ksteng12 The absolute best. After working her socks off today, Katie dragged that suitcase of goodies across the pitch to make sure TFS survivors of abuse left with items they will treasure forever. We love this picture; this is what making a difference looks like. It's a cracker!

@alisonflea Awful. Imagine how many there are who haven't got family to challenge this more widely. It's a shameful indictment on how we respect our older people.

It’s all about dignity isn’t it. My dad a headmaster in London for many years and clearly still with all his faculties has been given this for his dinner in hospital. I am ashamed.

@KayBurley interview with Mark Rowley went left. I get resolve and a determination to change but when failure happened under your leadership please don't be defensive. It supports the opinion nothing will change. The promise is not sincere when it is led with a 'But'

Very generous offer from my @FemicideCensus sister @ClarrieCensus to let you know if you share a constituency with any of the women killed by men in the last year so that you can ask your MP what they are doing. For a limited time only!
ClarrieFemicideCensus@ClarrieCensus

A long line of letters sent to MPs about the women killed in their constituency since last IWD. If you’d like to follow on the many who didn’t reply or attend the debate yesterday please respond with your constituency and I’ll let you know 💔

A councillor all areas should aspire to have. One that understands the origins of abuse and the actual impact. One that embraces survivor experiences. One that understands the best outcomes for survivors is served by independent support. Elected official goals 😍

Last night it was an absolute privilege to do my first speech as a councillor on #InternationalWomensDay. I spoke about some of the great things @wandbc is doing on domestic abuse, but also the things we desperately need to change.

@Teresa_PS I can see chests move as they sigh, hear the sound of exhales & feel the collective frustration. Just our sector along with women everywhere lifting ourselves YET AGAIN to say AGAIN ..ENOUGH stop blaming hormones, compliance, love or success for why we aren't alive or missing.

@clairethrossell Just awful Claire. We count what matters, we prioritise what matters. How society and the statutory functions we consent to are delivered is telling on what counts and what is a priority.

Furious beyond words.Doncaster Police IT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE to tell anyone who is at risk of being murdered that there are no officers available to speak to.NOT ACCEPTABLE to let them leave and offer no support or follow up call. She walked in scared & vulnerable & left the same.

Absolutely. Responding in the same way and expecting a different outcome, only seeing abuse that is reported to police, not looking at actual need means leaders and decision makers locally and nationally are blind to reality and risk.
Dame Nicole Jacobs@CommissionerDA

I don't use phrases like national emergency lightly The most frequent reason women are murdered is because #DomesticAbuse. Many people have seen it as an emergency for a long time. We need action + leadership now across police, Govt + other agencies express.co.uk/news/uk/173234…

@HWistrich @centreWJ Lessons learned. The tired go to response. Yet clearly not even that is the go to here. Self 'policing' the police response leads to statements like this and is not helping. Those experiencing abuse are telling the independent and specialist sector a very diff reality.

Can’t believe my ears from Steve harsthorn chair of police federation that culture in policing has improved and they don’t need to change misconduct process - that’s not what we @centreWJ have heard or seen from victims of police abusers

@CommissionerDA It was great to hear the national DA Commissioner being so direct over police perpetrated domestic abuse. There is no excuse for being unprepared in response. DA is core business for police and most all statutory provision.

Sal Naseem said there were no opportunities to stop Carrick yet to the untrained eye it’s obvious there were MANY opportunities to join up his offending behaviour including not recruiting a bloke with a history of domestic abuse. Also perhaps the 2002 offence was another
