@CraigSpillard Don’t be a landlord then. Fewer landlords means less demand for property means more affordable for normal people. Landlords don’t provide a service, they inflate prices.

Landlord charges £12,000 rent a year and is charged £6,000 per year on the mortgage interest. Of that £6,000 profit the government gets £4,536 the landlord gets £1,464 Of that £1,464 landlord has to cover repair costs, etc Is it the landlord or the government inflating rents?

@Koolkat6000 @anon_opin That presumes that the coffee shop has to turn another person away because of your second espresso shot. Otherwise, they get that second customer’s money anyway.

@anon_opin You need to add in the opportunity cost, they could of spent that time brewing the espresso for the next client in the queue and earned the money there.

The price of a double espresso can't be twice the single since It doesn't require you open another coffee shop or hire a second barista to do the job for a double shot. All you are adding extra is 30 ml water and 9 grams of coffee beans.

@TrailsAndAlesUK Tbf, why would that impact elapsed time if he didn’t pause it? His splits back up his claim with km 10 being over 5 mins. If he didn’t pause his watch, went to the loo and then continued running this would match up

The London Marathon ballot for 2027 is open. This is what applicants are asked on categories. 👇 - No question on sex; - No definition of “gender”; - Using the names of the 2 sexes as answer options to request for “gender” data; - Listing the 2 sexes along with “Non-binary”….

@BBCNews The article completely fails to note that the SRY test is a SCREEN. It is not the determining factor for eligibility, but indicates when further testing must be done. Those further tests then take into account the biological reality of the individual.

@KirstiMiller30 @RodneyCroome How do you determine each case? How much advantage is acceptable? If you don’t agree with sex categories, then what is your “better” solution? What alternative categories work to make sport safe and fair?

@RodneyCroome Totally agree case by case; anything else is illogical and anti-science and research, and it breaches Australian and international rights laws. And intersex women are NOT trans. We are two distinctive groups, yet the IOC has placed us into the one box

@KirstiMiller30 @HasItSunkIn @RodneyCroome So as long as you’re a male who meets those requirements, you can be in women’s sport? Would you also be in favour a cis-man who is the size of a woman, and not strong enough to compete with other cis-men, being able to compete in women’s sport? If not, why?

@AlastairMcA30 @DerryBanShee @Scienceofsport I’m intrigued, Alastair, that you respond to this, but fail to respond to the expert explaining the situation to you. Are you engaging with the actual facts or just looking to fight people who you disagree with on an ideological level?

Here are a few interconnected conversations about an issue being discussed re IOC policy. Basically, they've said CAIS is an exception that will be eligible for women's sport. But that invites some challenges, and sports must respond to those with clear, detailed, robust guidance
Aletheia@Aletheia_70

Really interesting question here about the position of those with CAIS (Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome) in female sport. And some great answers from @Scienceofsport. He suggests the primary challenge may actually be accurate detection.

The EU forcing the USB-C standard was great in isolation, but the flip side is that now no one will ever have any incentive to invent a better cable.

I hope he is in America. As of early 2025 (the most recent specific figure available from UK Parliament records in February 2025), the average (mean) waiting time for hip replacement surgery in England was 27.4 weeks (around 6-7 months). This is from referral to treatment starting (often admission for surgery).

And how does that apply to my point, and I quote myself : "To obtain a new citizenship, you should be forced to renounce your previous one." I'm not arguing it doesn't exist as of now, I'm asking how can it make sense? If you are citizens of Country A and Country B.. And they both go to war.. Which country do you fight for?

Karoline Leavitt: “You’re either a U.S. citizen or not. You can’t be a U.S. citizen and a citizen of another country.” She's a dummy, and that's false. It's amazing how many MAGAs believe this.

@astorey88 @JuliaHB1 The tories brought in voter ID. You said Labour DIDNT want voter ID because it would stop Labour gaming the system. Now you’re saying that voter ID made Labour win by preventing other people vote? Your logic isn’t logicking.
