Winnipeg, we need to talk about impaired driving. Our Checkstop Enforcement teams had an alarming week – and not for the right reasons. Here’s what they encountered: •35 impaired drivers. Yes, you read that right. Thirty-five. Even one is too many. •Two drivers were found passed out behind the wheel. •One driver continued driving after sideswiping multiple parked vehicles. •Another tested positive for cocaine. •Most disturbingly, one impaired driver had a 5-year-old child in the backseat. This isn’t just a safety concern; it’s a call to action. We must do better, Winnipeg. Plan ahead. Arrange a safe ride home. Never, ever drive impaired. @pixelzso @OrionMasson @markhildahl19 @NDP The damage is to the fourth power so the sad fact is they're right, buses will do more damage to roads, probably close to as much damage as 10,000 cars (1 bus is 10 times the weight of a car, raised to the fourth power = 10,000 times as much damage).
