Speaking at #UNFSS2023 today, I stressed that our global food systems are in crisis.
The numbers are staggering: 345 million people, including over 150 million children, are severely hungry.
We need bold investments to end hunger for everyone, everywhere.

Earlier today, I was honoured to announce @COP28_UAE food and agriculture agenda during the first day of #UNFSS2023 in Rome, which consists of four key pillars
1- National leadership and action; where we call on all governments to work with us in developing and signing a Leaders Declaration on Food Systems, Agriculture, and Climate Action.
2- Non-state actors across the value chain: where work to accelerate initiatives across production, consumption, food loss & waster whilst protecting nature and preserving livelihoods.
3- Scaling up innovations that target adaptation or mitigation and ensure they reach those that need them the most.
4- Financing; where we are in the midst of developing the mechanisms to unlock and mobilize the resources needed.
It was our promise to everyone that #FoodSystems and #agriculture will take centre stage at COP28 and this is the strongest push ever given to food systems and agriculture in the COP process.
Hence, we invite countries to embrace this agenda, join the Leaders Declaration and help us develop it further to ensure the biggest impact possible at #COP28.
