Another Ancient Greek fragment on the same theme. I won't poast Pericles' encomium but Athenians' word for grillers was ἰδιώτης

Japan's very own Kowloon is the Yoshida dormitory in Kyoto. The university (and the gubment) have been trying to get rid of/ tear down this "hotbed for various kinds of conflict"since the '70s. Now temporarily (?) shut down for strengthening against quakes

@spandrell4 @Scholars_Stage For pointing out some obvious cultural (not even HBD) differences. Unfortunately his tweets are deleted and I don't recall exactly what the conversation was about

There's a large difference in family attitudes between China and ex-USSR, so I'm not sure how far this argument goes. PS @Scholars_Stage don't be a dick unblock me

Young men served for several years and apparently married on retirement from active duty, as their average age at marriage was late twenties. Seems likely that this was a channel for vertical mobility as well, as achieving military distinction would have enabled them to marry up.

Reading this book. Interesting description of Republican Rome as basically formalized koryos with the remainder of the state apparatus being extremely restricted in scope with little taxation. Early Roman military funded itself through spoils and capturing land for settlement.

four & half years later I still can't make up my mind about this book, which argues that our ancestors did indeed plunge western Eurasia into a dark age, but that in long run they laid the foundations of far more technopolitical progressive states than those of Rome & China.

One of the funnier parts of the inherent retardation in attempting to rejuvenate roman sex cults is precisely the inconvenient fact, which BAP doesn’t mention for ideological reasons, that the Roman elite themselves were high in sexual promiscuity, extramarital affairs, and prostitutes were readily available, and yet the birth rate was infamously terrible among these elites, way lower than the average population, Augustus introduced laws intended to curb the rampant sexual immorality of the Roman elites and he implemented laws related to increasing their birth rate. These laws and the major concerns of this time related to the birth rate and sexual promiscuity causatively demonstrate that an aberration from traditionally normative sexuality doesn’t solve the birth rate, and the inspiration that BAP gets from history is in direct contradiction to his claim. BAP refuses to comprehend that sex and fertility are not only not inherently correlated, but sometimes oppositional. The most strenuous advocates for the sexual revolution were also and are to this day also the hardest advocates for antinatalism and against children, the goal of promiscuity is to abolish the family which obviously includes the children the family create. The motivations for promiscuity aren’t on the basis of the metaphysical love for children or life, it’s motivated by increased sensation seeking, dopaminergic consumption, impulsivity and objectification. It isn’t art, it’s more akin to two animals humping each other based on pure biological impulse. Therefore the causes of promiscuity and the causes of having children are caused by two separate variables. The motivations for having kids obviously aren’t related to lustful sexual attractions to your partner and desires to have promiscuous escapades, the sexual liberal doesn’t want the consequences related to sex, they want the pleasure of sex disconnected from reproduction and any other implication. The more short term the sexual relationship a woman is having with a man, the more likely she is to not want children with him or have children from the sexual encounter. This is why you see higher rates of fatherless among men when children are conceived out of wedlock, and higher levels of abortions from women in similar situations. The promiscuous individual, very high in impulsivity and sensation seeking isn’t thinking about the long term consequences of having sex and that it will result in children, they are interested in the sex and the desire associated with it. This is why that the sexual revolution has caused reductions in the TFR, in spite of cultural obsession with sex and media sexualization of everything. Nothing is more antagonistic towards the promulgation of promiscuity than children, which require responsibilities, family, effort and reduce ability to party along with requiring strong committed families and stops that person from being able to continue their promiscuous behavior because they are forced into a relationship/marriage long term with someone whom demands their sexual loyalty, hence the constraints associated with marriage and child rearing are oppositional to promiscuity. This explains why 90 percent of babies aborted are from sex outside marriage, and the Romans solution to pregnancy from their sexual promiscuity was widespread and legalized infanticide and exposure in analogous fashion to how women engage in abortions today. (Picture number 2) History is repeating itself, but in direct contradiction to what BAP suggests Biologically driven short term impulses -> Promiscuity -> unintended pregnancy-> mass abortion TFR stagnates

We really need some new terms. China is not a "whole-process people's" or any other sort of democracy. On the other hand, it's not just an authoritarianism. And on the gripping hand, "democracy" is a discredited regime (since the Greeks). We need terms for all systems that work.

For Building the Future, Paweł Wargan and Jason Hickel look at the concept of “whole-process people’s democracy” in China, a complex system of political participation and grassroots governance that is a mainstay of the process of Chinese modernisation. buff.ly/6QANNI7

@teortaxesTex Yeah sooo you may not be in china, but literally all the bans, closures etc. on tutors, private teachers and education centers have virtually stopped. The education center business is flourishing probably stronger and more competitive than before COVID
