The number of Americans making jokes about Canada’s wildfire smoke is pretty pathetic. When your forests are burning, Canada sends firefighters, aircraft, equipment, and crews without hesitation. We don’t sit online making memes while your communities are evacuated. Smoke doesn’t stop at a border. Wildfires don’t care what flag you wave. We help because that’s what good neighbours do. So maybe show a little gratitude, or at the very least keep the smug comments to yourselves. Acting like assholes while Canadians are losing homes and firefighters are risking their lives isn’t the flex you think it is.
