Verso and Expedition 0: MAJOR SPOILERS The story all starts at the creation of the canvas and the peaceful world. We see a world where Grandis played with children, Gestrals and Humans worked together and the civilization of Lumiere thrived. The Paintress painted all that is living, and all that die return back to the Paintress as Chroma so she can start the cycle again. She was a Goddess of sorts with people worshipping her In the manor in Lumiere consisted of the happy Dessendre family who were all painted by The Paintress. Aline and Renior, Clea, Alicia, Verso. Verso's love interest Julie, and his friend plus Clea's love interest Simon. In the outside world the grieving Dessendre family lost Aline to the painting while she lived her life inside it as The Paintress, so after a period of time a desperate Renoir entered the painting to help free her from it and herself. He caused a fracture in the painting, enough to shock her out of it and to force her back into the real world. This caused the canvas as we see it today and all the death and destruction. Lumiere was split in 2, The Paintress Aline went into hiding, formed a barrier, trapped Renoir under the monolith. The people of the time believed this was The Paintress doing and that she was more a fearful Goddess than a loving Goddess Expedition 0: This was a searcher expedition made up of 3 parties to find out what happened to the world and to rescue the other Lumieres on the other side of the fracture. The 1st party consisted of Renoir, Verso, Simon and a few unnamed. The 2nd party consisted of Julie and a few unnamed. The 3rd were all unnamed. They spread all over to make more area to search Renoir's party traveled to the dome, however there was an attack and the party was split, assumed dead. Simon was in this party. The eventually made it to the dome only to be met by The real Clea who killed the rest of the party, and told pRenoir and pVerso that they aren't real, they are a painting within the canvas and to go home as her and the Real Renoir are trying to bring the Real Aline out. Shocked and in disbelief they head back to Lumiere. Simon was found by Real Clea who pretended to be pClea to gain his trust. He was then taken to the bottom of the monolith where she and Renoir fed him an overload of chroma to defeat The Paintress and bring Aline home, but in doing so, Simon lost his mind. Clea created Nevrons to disrupt the flow of chroma back to the Paintress to weaken her by killing all life and turning them to stone. Renoir, Verso and Julie's team came back to Lumiere with the 3rd team nowhere to be seen. Verso and Renoir told their story and the people of Lumiere were suspicious of them as they were the only ones left. Together they all built a dome to protect Lumiere, but the doubt was already set in. The first Gommage happened and what was left of the group set out to destroy The Paintress, however this time the Nevrons that Clea created had taken over and the canvas was a lot more dangerous. Renoir and Verso kept telling the party that The Paintress was not to blame and this already brought suspicion previously. pRenoir told Verso that the Real Clea paints other people to stop them from protecting The Paintress and to not trust everyone. On the way back to The Monolith, they are attacked by another Nevron who ultimately kills Verso and a lot of the rest of the team. He then comes back to life, realising he is immortal which cements what he knew that The Paintress is the savior. Julie then sees him and he tries to play it off as it was nothing, but with the seeds of doubt already there, no one believes him. pRenoir, to protect his son kills the rest of Expedition 0 and tells Verso that they were all Clea's painting who are set out to destroy The Paintress. For years after Verso and pRenoir set out to destroy each Expedition as they land to protect The Paintress and so their Chroma can go back to her so she can continue the fight against Clea and the Real Renoir. After a few years the truth comes out that Julie was not painted and that pRenoir cared more about his existence and the rest of the painted family than anything else. This broke Verso's heart, they got into a fight and he left, buried remains of Julie and set out to destroy The Paintress and the Canvas as he didn't want to exist anymore. He then spent his time trying to aid expeditioners learning further to continue year after year, until he met Maelle, and the rest, as they say, is that
