Much of the Word of Wisdom is outdated and no longer makes sense today. So, following it now teaches your brain that: *Rules matter more than understanding why. *Obedience becomes the goal, even when the reason no longer makes sense.

My boys work with me most days to learn tradescraft and how to get things done. This long term client has adopted our daughter as a grandkid. She spends her days learning how to bake, make homemade ice cream, and crab fritters. She's also learning how to drive tractors and UTVs

If you’re really fucked up over someone and you discover the term “limerence” it’s completely over for you. Genuine cognitohazard for anyone with poor emotional regulation skills and a maladaptive attachment style. One of the closest things we have to a real-life madness rune

@Manhattva I think anyone who is willing to work hard should be allowed to earn the American dream. Those who are here working illegally should be able to square themselves with the law and continue working

@stackerco So you’re saying it is tied to the temperance movement and not a revelation from God?

@StarTether Grains today are the main reason for obesity and diabetes. It’s just the temperance movement.

@Careerflex2 @AlobhaPatrick Yea I mean if you’re showing up in a way that’s harmful to others I don’t think anyone should put up with it but all that conditioning is so dense for people so…

The problem is it’s complicated: Sometimes it’s mostly the parents. Sometimes it’s mostly a genetic accident or other typical cause. Sometimes it’s both.

The new Dune: Part Three trailer reminds us that Zendaya's Chani is the critical X-factor that makes this latest sequel so exciting. bit.ly/4aFvDJt

@NickTaber @AlobhaPatrick Good points. I've met people who I thought individually had some real narcissistic problems. Then I met their siblings, nieces, cousins who had the exact same tics, exact same phrases, exact same physiological tells, as though rehearsed. Epigenetics is a hell of a thing.

Maybe but there’s a massive taboo and a massive amount of collective gaslighting around family system harm. Also, understanding the sources of the problem in the parents isn’t “parent blaming”. I don’t think any reasonable person is proud of how they’ve shown up in every instant of their life. I’ve known some parents who after their kids left, went on a real honest journey of their own healing and understood they caused a lot of problems for their kid. If people are opening themselves up to what is true, I have a lot of compassion because I understand how excruciating that is.
