The only important thing I have to add to dinergoth discourse is that I was a goth in a small NW Ohio college town in the early '90s before it was cool. Actually it was still cool. I was very cool. The takeaway here is that I've always been cool.

The way it stores data is a lot better and uses less storage and is just faster. The configuration is not horrible like Loki. You can use vmagent, victorialogs, victoriametrics which all share the same simple config (literally just cli flags) and have sane defaults instead of prometheus + loki (made by some other company rather than prom, horrible to configure and overall shit) +
grafana labs can't do shit well outside their code product (grafana), it's all subpar and they keep deprecating stuff so i avoid those like the plague
they have many breaking changes in grafana too, mostly caused by golang being bad and them not taking that into account

One of my themes at work has been a little compliance and reproducibility and witnesses to compliance spiel.
Vocational programmers don't get it.
