@Isuckatpicking @RTP7373 Ya and the price on a barrel of oil back under a Conservative government was $100 back then like it is today. But gas was on avg. $38L cheaper back then under a Conservative government. Explain your way out that one!

@RTP7373 Those taxes existed under conservative governments including Poilievre’s/Harper’s. Why no outrage then?

The only reason Poilievre wants Carney to remove all gas taxes is so the deficit will balloon even higher, so he can blame him for that as well. He doesn’t care about you. This is him trying to recover his failed political career.
Pierre Poilievre@PierrePoilievre

Mark Carney is keeping 2/3 of gas taxes on for 2/3 of the year while Canadian families pay the cost of higher oil prices. Let's take all gas taxes off to deliver real relief at the pump: conservative.ca/cpc/zero-tax-o…

Just because you don’t accept the criticism doesn’t change the fact that Mark Carney hasn’t fulfilled any of his promises he campaigned on. “Judge me by my grocery prices” ——> highest food inflation in the g7. “I’ll get a deal with Trump by July” ——> no deal, increased tariffs, worse relationship with the US in recent history. “Build the strongest economy in the g7” ——> our economy has never been weaker “Build homes at speeds never seen before” —> hasn’t built any homes. Like why can’t you liberals ever take responsibility for your parties failings or hold them accountable for anything? You always have to blame someone else. ALWAYS. Trump can be blamed for 5% of Canadas problems, if that. The rest is on our government. Like fuck, WAKE UP.

System is broken, what else is he supposed to do? Just ignore the fact Liberal insiders are extracting wealth from the country while using our resources to empower our greatest threat? Like genuinely explain to me the play here... Liberals know the system is broken too, which is why the modern Liberal party plays purely for optics, because on a policy level they would get decimated by pure logic...we see it during QP where Liberals never fucking answer anything...just vomit slogans...because their ideology is about as logical as a chocolate teapot...

@JeffreyLuscombe @DaveBaker266641 I don't get it. What good is tone if the policies today being held in place by Liberals are killing our country. Are you more worried about how the PM sounds, or how Canadians and Canada thrives?! Because tone and being a centrist isn't cutting it!

@DaveBaker266641 Whether that’s true or not the CPC will need to bring more centrists, liberal voters and old red Tories back if they want to win a majority, I think. A different tone may help some. But we’ll see.

@RegTeed @melissacare01 @MarkJCarney Both very dumb statements that clearly haven't aged well! Floor crossings is undemocratic no matter what party you're in. These MPs are elected by the people in their ridings to represent them in the HoC! If they wanted a Liberal, they would have voted for one!

At this important moment for our country’s future, Canadians with a broad range of experience and perspectives are uniting to build Canada strong. I am honoured to welcome Marilyn Gladu today as the newest member of this government and our Liberal caucus. In a time of global economic uncertainty, Canada’s success will depend on how we build ambition into progress and strengths into sustained advantage. Marilyn brings the practical, results-driven leadership this effort demands. Having spent decades of her career in engineering and international business, she understands what it takes to create good jobs, strengthen supply chains, and ensure Canadian industry can compete in a rapidly changing global economy. She has been elected by the people of Sarnia—Lambton–Bkejwanong in four straight elections since 2015, and repeatedly earned recognition from colleagues across Parliament for her proven willingness to work constructively across party lines. I’m looking forward to working closely with Marilyn to build a stronger and more independent Canadian economy, meeting the challenges of a changing world with lasting opportunities for all.

@JeffreyLuscombe @CanadianCoffey For the same reasons Liberals hate being fiscally responsible! Do you have $90B in taxes you'd like to give the federal government for this project? Oh you don't?! Well, neither does any other Canadian currently struggling to make end meet.

@TIGERxxSTYLE @Casarina You'll never get a response from these Libtards. Because if they say no, then they'll have to concede that Pierre Poilievre is correct in wanting the government to scrape this project. And no Liberal would want to ever concede that Poilievre is right!

@Casarina Give your head a good shake. Nobody is against public transportation if it makes economic sense. We're 3400 RCMP officers short and spend more on debt servicing than we do on healthcare. In your opinion, would public safety and healthcare take a back seat to rail?

@Casarina This is what you want to hang your hat on? Whether its wanted or not, it's fiscally irresponsible to spend more money on a single project then the entirety of your projected deficit for the year. And that's assuming the $94B estimated price tag doesn't balloon out of control.

As a Canadian historian, sure gives me a chuckle that a modern conservative is against rail.

@Pajamaparty3rd @skfrmr @SpaceWalkerReal This country is in shambles and you people want to spend $90B on high speed rail? Are you well?! Canadians need to get their shit together, and develop our resources so the country can become wealthy. THEN, you can put forth a $90B high-speed rail project. Once we're rich!

@skfrmr @SpaceWalkerReal When you take into account how long the process of flying is, not just the flight itself, this would represent a more convenient and likely lower cost option for rapid commute within the corridor

You are a fraud. He doesn't need your help. You have absolutely no experience in international relations. You're allowing one of your backbencers, @jamiljivani, to go to Washington to "negotiate" (kiss Trump's a$$ with the help of JD Vance). You are no advocate of middle and lower-class Canadians. You have consistently voted against measures that help people meet basic needs, including affordable housing, childcare, dental care, medication, contraceptives, and school food programs. You've opposed expanding the pension plan, raising the minimum wage, strengthening workers’ rights, and protecting our environment.

Today I met the Prime Minister to push policies to make Canada affordable, safe, and self-reliant. I also pushed for lower taxes on Canadians and shared my disappointment at the size of the deficit. I offered specific suggestions on how to bring back investment and restated the offer from Conservatives to help in the Canada-U.S. negotiations.

Met with @PierrePoilievre today.    Canada’s new government is moving fast — and we need Parliament to move swiftly to deliver for Canadians.   We’ve put forward bills to strengthen bail and sentencing laws, build up a stronger economy, cut costs for the middle class, and protect Canadian workers.    This is an important time to be working together, and to pass the legislation Canadians are counting on.
