@CaroSmiff @Biff234523 I am an infection preventionist and I work in the dental space with processes to keep staff and patients safe. Not sure what you are asking re: “treatments” as it relates to dentistry.

The Covid / infectious disease conversation is so boring today, and lately.
Don’t folks ever get tired of only talking about “Covid is still here!” and mask-wearing discourse instead of technical discussion about the science behind the dozens of prophylactic interventions and treatments at our disposal?
I realize I’m not really any better sitting here subtweeting the discussion. It was a sort of busy weekend, though. I’ll try to focus on some high-quality threads in the coming week, because it’s just a waste of time for me to be endlessly scrolling much of this current discourse.
Are there any topics that anyone happens to want to see covered?
Also, the OFABT team is going to be working on putting together a presentation and some graphics on the Nuvaxovid platform. It’s being produced for industry partners, but hopefully it’s something everyone finds useful that might also be able to help convey Novavax’s advantages to the general population.

@Biff234523 @Skibbles70 Is novavax combining w previous mRNA fragments?
Català

Most CVS locations should have the latest batch of Novavax. Ask if they can check the fridge, make sure they understand you’re looking for “Nuvaxovid”
If you really can’t find it, you might be fine with a gap in availability if you’ve been up to date (a priming series + annual boosters). Novavax is durable enough for that, and mRNA is just more likely to mess up someone’s memory response at that point.
If you still decide on mRNA, mNEXSPIKE (Moderna’s newest product) is the safest/best option.
It has the same effectiveness as the other two vaccines, but does so with less antigen (10 micrograms instead of 30 w/ pfizer and 50 w/ Spikevax) andwithout containing the S2 subunit of the SARS2 spike protein. With Novavax, S2 is beneficial (since it provides broader coverage across variants), but it’s problematic in mRNA because of the complexes that S1 + S2 fragments combine to form intracellularly. That contributes to cardiac side effects, potentially post-vaccination syndrome, etc. (frontiersin.org/journals/immun…)

@TheRickWilson @gtconway3d The question is did Hegseth write this? Is Hegseth acting as Deranged Commander in Chief?

@ChrisMurphyCT I mean, the crazy religious shit is the “plan”, no?

@RepThomasMassie @AmberWoods100 If war is not formally declared, how does that impact the service members’ records?
English

"We are not at war," Johnson said. "We have no intention of being at war."
Excuse me, this is war. Even those in favor of it will admit that much.
Changing the real meaning of words does not relieve Congress of its Constitutional duty to authorize War.

@FPWellman @VetsForRL How does this also impact service members’ service/VA records?
English

We are at war. This is total idiocy. Our service members are being sent into major combat operations with a very dangerous enemy who is being backed by Russia and these idiots are doing word games to avoid oversight and following the Constitution. Time to fire Mike Johnson.

90 days of narrow band UVB light therapy led to significant downregulation in 23 of 92 inflammatory proteins in people with MS. It also led to reductions in severity & supports NB-UVB as a promising immunomodulatory strategy sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

@jlerollblues But it’s gone up and down… hasn’t grown continuously at 32.5%?
English

😳 I’m speechless. We’ve always said we will pay big time for our decisions in the years to come and this ups it a notch
Ilkka Rauvola@jukka235
Cancer related deaths accounted for 16.8% of all deaths among 30-34 year olds in 2024. If they continue to grow at the rate of 32.5%, they alone could be sufficient to double total mortality in this age group within 4 years, and increase it 10-fold within a further 8 years. 3/x

"both the virus itself and mRNA vaccines have been associated with cardiac symptoms..
Although vaccine-induced myocarditis remains a rare adverse event, recent longitudinal studies have raised questions regarding its long-term impact..
we investigated the translation and proteolytic processing of the encoded spike monomers in human AC16 cardiomyocytes, as well as in HEK-293 and HeLa cells..
In all three cell types, both BNT162b2 and mRNA-1273 produced two divergently sized monomer translation products from which one S1 subunit was formed after enzymatic cleavage..
[However,] Within a few hours, covalently bonded high-molecular complexes formed from both the spike monomers and their subunits..
in AC16 cardiomyocytes, the various spike protein derivatives impaired not only cell proliferation, but also induced a pro-inflammatory response and oxidative stress.."

@fitterhappierAJ @HarrySpoelstra Would frequent boosters have the same effect?
English

I can’t believe what I’m seeing
T cell dysregulation and exhaustion from Covid may have caused rapid progression of HPV related cancer
Echoing my hypothesis from three years ago
Thanks @HarrySpoelstra

@herbersh @JamesTodaroMD @dockaurG @ProfKarolSikora @FatEmperor you know what cd8s are responsible for? killing cancers and viruses, especially troublesome ones like herpes, ebv, hpv. and now your cd8s are aged a decade. and you have no thymus.

@Ninawildflower @DSEDunn We’re looking for a black mask for speaking at a funeral. What would you recommend?

@DSEDunn I don't wear them for work because they aren't as good for speaking in as my main masks, but they look really good.

Lots of people asked about this ombré mask, and where to buy it, so here's a🧵.

You can buy the ombré, black & white versions from PPEO, or the black from The Face Mask Store (UK)
