This is wild. The @WhiteHouse plagiarized its reason for launching a war on Iran from @FDD, a cutout of Israeli intelligence. Side-by-side screenshots in the 🧵

The most definitive White House statement purporting to justify the Israel-US war on Iran was its March 2, 2026 statement entitled "The Iranian Regime's Decades of Terrorism against American Citizens". whitehouse.gov/articles/2026/… After a brief editorial opening, the article lists 44 incidents with a total of 992 US deaths. The source of the data wasn't given. Where did it come from? Unlike the Iraq war or the Russia collusion allegation, the reporting didn't come from an intelligence assessment, flawed or otherwise. It turns out that the list was plagiarized by the White House from a June 19, 2025 list (fdd.org/analysis/2025/…) prepared by a former AIPAC employee (Tzvi Kahn) for a think tank (FDD) founded "to provide education to enhance Israel's image in North America". The think tank's original identity was "EMET (Hebrew for 'truth')". The June 19, 2025 publication was literally on the eve of the first US bombing of Iran on June 21, 2025. In this thread, I'll compare each and every item in the White House statement to the corresponding item in the original list by the former AIPAC employee. The list is virtually identical. Any slight changes are always in the change of ratcheting up the underlying allegation.

You think you’re choosing… but your brain already decided. At some point, habits stop being choices — and start becoming automatic. Social media, food, cravings… it’s all the same loop. 👉 We break this down way deeper in the full episode on YouTube.

Goldman guy whines the antitrust approval is "more political" in Trump admin. Of course, they complained about politics under Khan/Kanter. Maybe they just don't like it when they can't just do precisely what they want whenever they want? In other words: lawlessness

Big Bank win = Community Bank loss. The TBTFs will exploit the lower capital requirements and eventually cause a crisis that will roll down (and over) us. It happens every time. wsj.com/finance/regula…

@zachdcarter It's of a piece with his selective outrage. Remember his outrage when Garland was blocked by McConnell. Me neither.

The maximum an individual can legally donate to a candidate in an election is $3300. Elon donated $277M to Trump in 2024 because of loopholes rich people use to buy elections. If you care about election integrity — overturn Citizens United so our elections aren’t auctions.

Our financial system enables big banks and FinTech companies to use our financial data for their own profit. We have the opportunity to change that by supporting CFPB's Open Banking Rule—to empower consumers to decide how their financial data is used and shared.

A great @tylercowen piece of life advice: After eating at a restaurant, walk somewhere else for dessert. Through the magic of an after-lunch stroll, I found this small wonder a stone's throw from Tour Montparnasse, great for a muffin and a chicory latte:

@regulatorynerd One more example of small banks being the heat shields for large banks. It's so self-defeating. But maybe it's enough for small and large to hate the same things: credit unions and regulation.
