@CaseyMPLS Alright, I'm gonna take a beer out to the hot tub to calm down. You were probably just trying to rile me up and I fell for the trap, like usual 🤣

This 1987 Highlights card commemorates Kirby Puckett's 10-for-11 weekend in Milwaukee.
What do you notice about the photo Score chose to memorialize Kirby's historic offensive outburst? 🤣

Speaking of spring training photos, a cool feature of the 1987 Topps Traded Jeff Reardon card is that he has the new '87 hat but they still wore the old pre-'87 uniforms in spring training.
(Of course all the base set cards in '87 use photos from 1986. I think it would be super cool if they went back and made '87 and '91 cards with photos actually from those seasons. Shit, if I were the king of Topps, I would redo everything ... rookie cards from players' actual rookie years, redo All-Star cards, "Future Stars," Top Prospects ... all that shit. Actually pisses me off how often they brush off the old designs but then slap totally random photos on their. HUGE missed opportunities left and right ... shit, right off the top of my head I can think of a modern Bert Blyleven card where they used the 1984 design, the main photo is probably from 1987, but then the little headshot in the bottom corner is from the '70s, from Bert's previous stint with the team! And there's a modern Kirby card on the 1986 card with a photo from maybe 1994? (I actually researched the uniform once and figured it out, but let's say '94 for tonight))

Hey, I just like to complain about the photos ... I don't know anything about the actual process. I suppose a lot of teams are in one area during spring training, so it's convenient for their photographers. I think (especially back in the day) they had certain photographers who worked for them. You'll also see a lot of photos from certain ballparks, such as Yankee Stadium. Super rare to see a shot from the Metrodome in the '80s and '90s ... outside of some World Series cards, I think there were a few in 1993 Topps...
English

@TwinsAlmanac So many cards seem to be snapped at spring training. Sup with that?
English

@CaseyMPLS Baseball card photos in general are an endless source of consternation. And it's not like Topps didn't have better options...

English

@TwinsAlmanac One of the most exciting players in the game and 89 Topps decided THAT was a good representation of him.
English

@CaseyMPLS They couldn't at least find a shot of him squaring up a pitch?! 🤣
English

@BushmanBg9 @grill2k @pfmurphy11 @MN_Bullies For a moment, while wearing, I psychometricly saw life through your mind.
I will never be the same.
English

@BushmanBg9 I like it quite a bit, but the amount of coverage is obnoxious.

HELP! I get to choose a new uniform number for my townball team and I need ideas!
I'm a catcher and the oldest player on the team. Would it be too wild to go with number 72 for Carlton Fisk, who caught in the majors until age 45?
I could go with number 36 for Terry Steinbach who played townball after his MLB career.
Johnny Blanchard wore 38.
14 or 9 for my childhood idols @Hrbie14 and Ted Williams (plus Wes Westrum wore 9), but I'm assuming those are spoken for since they were already in use.
Our shortstop already got dibs on 44, which is my number with the @MinnokaGrays 🤣
@NotGaetti, what's the correct move here?
When I first joined the team 10 years ago, they just handed me the number 11 jersey, but I'm not particularly attached to it.

English

@TwinsAlmanac Yeah, numbers are numbers. Was 22 forever, then Lippert beat me in an arm wrestling match so I had to find something new. Ended up with 5 because I’ve always been a big MVRuden guy. Err, Little VonRuden guy? Not sure what the correct parlance is. Jack Watson also wears 5 well
English

I would feel motivated by wearing Fisk’s number, but I think 72 would just look goofy to anyone who sees me out there 🤣.
Turns out the guy who asked for 44 did so because it was his dad’s number. I don’t have any special connection to it other than it’s the jersey Lars handed me when I joined the Grays. (Presumably the previous owner of that jersey didn’t pan out 🤣.)

Look at Randy Johnson's stats AFTER reaching @TheFedMN age.
@Baseball_Ref gives him a 60.4 WAR in the 11 seasons after turning 35. For comparison, Sandy Koufax amassed a 53.1 WAR over his entire 12-year career.

This could have been the ball from the final out of the @Montreal_Expos World Series victory.

My favorite Bat for my favorite Townball Team. @PLMudcat Turn 36 this spring so I've giften them my favorite model @Bully_Bats Good Luck this summer guys, I hope the bat helps bring another trip to State.

@bdunk04 @PLMudcat @Bully_Bats Does Veseli still have those pickled eggs at the concession stand? I never trusted them in that hot jar. I could see Bully Bats creating a Customized pickled egg Veseli bat. Or maybe an ode to the cemetary or the old cowbells?
English

@CaseyMPLS @PLMudcat @Bully_Bats I love and hate this. It’s really cool, but it can stay in the bag against us. 🤣
