I love turns 10 and turn 11 in laguna seca.. In my R1 i can almost hit 110 on turn 10 but i bitch out on turn 11 and slowdown to about 85.. that cork screw drop gives you positive and negative Gs. it always feels like i’m getting pulled up on the bike as we enter final stretch. it gets a little squiggly for my 190 rear end dunlups

@SirWiseSam I saw a unicorn of a cybertruck since it was towing a small camper type trailer and I've been told cybertrucks, like all EV trucks, can't tow anything.

@Tedisiek @TesCalendar1 Tesla is good about making making information and parts available for people who want to do their own work. In some cases you can even rent specialized tools from them for some repairs from what I’ve heard.

Genuinely what is the quality of these model s’s like? My wife made some calls earlier and we are going to look at a 2018 525ps one on Tuesday after dismissing a 2021 leaf, enquired about a leapmotor but the lease terms are insane. I did drive an early one on track about 10 years ago and it did feel a bit home made. However I’m open to options now given the price of diesel. I like the size of the rear seat and like the flat floor for child seat purposes. Are they reliable? Any stupid problems? Are they user fixable?

Most people still think operating an EV for 1/4th the cost and “$10 fill ups” are a hoax. Be sure to remind those people that it’s reality!

I met my now wife just before all the Covid lockdowns started. We spent most of 2020 at my place since it was in a rural area where we could be outside without any problems. We waited till we went through the winter together to see if we were compatible in terms of home Temp in the winter. We were compatible in terms of how hot to keep the house so we got married June 2021. We both knew early on we were going to get married.

@StevieWestAgain Thank you. She knew in 7th grade, didn't start dating until the last day of 9th grade. I asked her bestie out, her bestie knew she liked me, said, "Take her out instead" and that's how it went. I was, of course, clueless about all of this until years later.

The company is xelerate and they offer overall extended warranty or the battery drive unit insurance. Max payout is 30k and they quote the same 12 to 15 k typical battery replacement you mentioned. Rare that I keep a car for 13 years or 200k miles so as long as the company has good reviews and seems dependable it might be something to give me more piece of mind.

@CaseykinNorCal @DxMiLLAA Wow that’s a good deal after all! it reminds me of the meme “hello would you like to extend you warranty” phone call. Packs go for 12k-15k in the use market. they will prolly write the car off by the time it’s done. it’s like gap insurance huh?

My battery warranty is 120k or 8 years. Good advice on running the test before the battery warranty runs out. I’ve also thought about a third party battery insurance where you could add 10 years or 150k miles from your current mileage for like $3,800 with a $500 deductible that also covers the drive units. Doubt I’d keep the car that long but who knows.

She’s been good to you? Well i gotta let you know Tesla repair outside of battery is cheaper compared to other manufacturers. since they are vertically integrated they sell their parts at whole sale. If you can DIY basic maintenance labor is free. The battery pack is 60% of the value of the car. it’s also most labor intensive. since it’s being used as part of the chassis. it’s locked in there. The hard part is it’s easy to install wrong. Your battery is has limited warranty till 150k or 5 years right? (i think) my real advice is to run the big battery test to make sure your cells are solid. run it every 10k they say more the better. before your limited warranty ends. if there’s trouble and it’s unlikely there will be. you have some coverage. My neighbor has a model Y 2019 that has 300k! Battery degradation is good he still has 80% of his range.

Here's the Sentry Mode footage of 67-year old Karen Lewis vandalizing a Cybertruck with a board and nails. She then placed the board under the front tire, presumably hoping it would be driven over. She also placed an aluminum sign under another tire, because? She has since been arrested and charged with misdemeanor damage to property.

Yeah there is that. I used FSD for most of the miles on our 345 mile trip yesterday. Since I'm on V12 still all I did was bump the max speed up or down in situations where more speed was useful but then adjusted back down to the previous speed. It sure would be nice to be able to adjust max speed like that in the final unsupervised version.

@sellthedip6 @WilliamShatner Hey @WilliamShatner I'm sure you can afford a Lucid Air Grand Touring. The out of Spec team did a 70 MPH range test and got 511 miles out of the battery. Not a Tesla but you can get an EV with a 500 mile range so no excuse go to the Lucid web site and put your order in.

Please reconsider this stance or at least evaluate it more carefully, EVs do not need to have 500miles of range on a single charge. I've been living with one for the last 4 years and even on road trips I have never felt I needed more range. EVs will eventually get longer ranges without adding tons of weight, but we don't need to wait until they do to enjoy them today.

That's fine and your choice. Me I don't like putting more toxic pollutants into the air locally where I drive. Where I live 94% of the electricity comes from emission free sources so even at the power plants no emissions are being put into the air. I also very much enjoy having driven 50K miles without having to spend time and money on oil changes and other types of maintenance. Of course I also enjoy saving money over the cost of gas. I spent less than $20 on the electricity to do my 345 mile trip yesterday, I didn't see any gas available for less than $5.20 a gallon yesterday. So it would have cost me about $60 if I had to pay for gas for the same trip.

@CaseykinNorCal I went to visit my grand daughter. 330 miles round trip. Fueled up the truck before I left. Spent a great couple days there, returned last night. Still have just shy of a quarter tank. I respect the choice to drive an EV. I will stick with my gas guzzler.

Today's road trip was down to Davis CA. Left the house at 100% battery. 295 miles range showing at 100% so in 3 years and 50k miles I have 10% battery degradation. Arrived in Davis after 170 miles with 29% battery. While my wife went to her dentist appointment I went to charge the car. The Suercharger at Cowell Blvd. is a location where price for power is based on how full the station is when you plug in. When I plugged in it was at the lowest price of 34 cents per kWh. Since I was in no rush I set the charge limit to 80% and walked to the grocery store there for something to drink. After my wife got done with her appointment we had lunch and then started the trip home. I was a bit tired so made an unscheduled stop on Corning to get a drink at a travel stop. Then back in the car for the scheduled stop in Cottonwood. There I just needed a fast 5 minute top off before going to the store at this location and then home. Total trip was 345 miles. Total charging time during two charging sessions was 30 minutes. If I had skipped the first charging stop in Davis I could have run down the SOC for faster charging but I was in no rush and wanted to take advantage of the cheaper power. We could have charged where we had lunch. That would have saved some time since we could have eaten while charging but the power would have been 12 cents more per kWh and really I had nothing better to do while waiting for my wife so cheaper power won.

I think you need to study your history. During WWII when oil was limited and most of the available crude oil was reserved for the military other oils were used to keep the machines of manufacturing running. What we know as vegetable oil and corn oil and other such seed oils were used as regular lubricants in machines. It wasn't till after the war and producers had all these seed oils that it was decided that with some minor modifications these industrial oils could be used for human consumption. Plastics can be made from things other than crude oil such as substances from plants. So the tech is there we just need to move towards greater adoption of what is already available to replace the need for crude oil.

I don't think you understand the problem. The technology doesn't exist to replace oil at humanities scale at all... it's not just cars, but a large portion of modern life requires oil. Manufacturing is the largest including plastics, synthetics, textiles for thing like tires, syringes, capacitors, asphalt, etc. Then you get into massive industry that there is not an electrical replacement for in mining and steel processing. Pharmaceuticals are next on the list, lord knows the world is dependent on those. The Sum of humanity relies on oil and "nothing" can replace it.

Excuse me but rural resident here. I live 30 miles up a mountain from the closest city. I have an EV car and an EV truck and both work great for me. I just plug into my home charger when I get home and ready to go the next morning when I wake up. Most rural people live in a home where they have the room and the ability to have a home charger. The bonus is when power goes down I can plug my house into my EV truck and power the house for days.

It’s never a good idea to lump a group of individuals into one specific 🪣. After-all human beings have different motives and do the most part are able to think independently. But ⚡️ 🚗 are not for everyone. Although they are great for city driving, we can all agree they’re not ideal for remote or rural areas. Furthermore, fossil fuels account for 60% of the 🇺🇸 power grid. Whereas wind and solar only contribute ~15%. But in order to continue growing economically, all energy sources will need to be unlocked.
