During the Nuremberg Trials, Hermann Göring gave an interview to psychologist Gustave Gilbert and said: “Of course the people don’t want war. Why would some poor farmer want to risk his life in a war when the best he can hope for is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally, people don’t want war. No one wants war in Russia, England, America — not even in Germany. That’s obvious. But in the end, it’s the leaders of a country who determine policy. And it’s always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it’s a democracy, a communist state, a parliament, or a fascist dictatorship.” Gilbert objected: “But there is one difference in a democracy — the people have a voice through their elected representatives.” To which Göring replied: “That’s all well and good, but whether the people have a voice or not, they can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and for exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.” — Nuremberg Diary, April 18, 1946 Doesn’t it sound familiar?

4th July - Tory wipe Out
1/ To stop anyone protesting or marching that believes in their just cause for doing so, is an affront to democracy and the slippery slope to authoritarianism. Whether we agree with the march or not, if it's within the boundaries of peaceful that is the right that person!

More than a million people—nearly one in five of the population—have been forcibly displaced by Israel’s ongoing military offensive, with families sheltering in overcrowded schools and public buildings in Beirut or lacking adequate housing. Al Jazeera's Rory Challands reports.

I am completely gutted by today’s result but incredibly proud of our season. We’ve come a long way in five years and this was the best result in our 150+ year history. More to do. But for now, we have so much to be proud of, Reds.

Well, there you have it. British nationals are serving in a foreign army which is committing war crimes and crimes against humanity, including genocide. Those are illegal acts. The Metropolitan police has decided it won't open an investigation into them.

Jonathan Hall, the “independent” reviewer of terrorism legislation, has called for a temporary ban on pro-Palestine marches, stating it is “impossible” for them not to “incubate” antisemitism. He has made no equivalent call regarding Tommy Robinson’s protests or marches, and has not claimed they incubate anti-Muslim or anti-immigrant hate. Critics have questioned his independence. His father-in-law, Lord Dyson, is a patron of UK Lawyers for Israel. Reports also mention Hall spending family holidays in Israel and visiting Israeli counter-terrorism bodies. His strong comments on pro-Palestine marches “incubating” antisemitism, treating “demonisation of Israelis” as potential hate speech, and support for proscribing groups like Palestine Action have drawn accusations of alignment with government/pro-Israel views. The role has real operational independence (public reports, classified access, no day-to-day government control), and Hall has a track record of addressing both Islamist and far-right threats. However, as a government-appointed position with personal ties relevant to current controversies, full perceived neutrality is contested, especially on Israel/Palestine issues. This is common for such watchdogs; independence is easier to claim than to prove.

Tony Blair’s thinktank urges Labour to scrap ‘unaffordable’ pension triple lock. 2m pensioners live in poverty. Full post-2016 state pension is received by 35% of retirees, less than 50% of minimum wage. Silence on taxing the rich, redistribution. theguardian.com/money/2026/may…

Imagine lying this hard for clout. 💀 Reform is out here banning international students from loans they literally already cannot get. Whether you are French, Irish, or from Mars, you cannot just land in the UK and rinse the taxpayer. You have to prove years of residency first. In reality, international students are actually out here subsidising our entire uni system by paying triple fees and paying for the NHS upfront before they even get here. They are literally inventing fake problems to sell you fake solutions. It is embarrassing. 🤡#UKPolitics #StudentFinance #FactCheck

So let's get this straight... two sitting black councillors are deselected in Croydon. The Party's bureaucrats enforce a mandatory shortlist... and the result is KEIR STARMER'S MID-20s NIECE gets picked to stand for the 2nd safest ward? She might be very smart and capable, and might eventually be a credit to the role, but this sort of mad top-down management invites scepticism. If I was a local resident, I'd be pretty miffed. insidecroydon.com/2026/04/30/kei…

People don't realize how absurd this view actually is. A camera. On a robot. On Mars. Built by humans on a planet 140 million miles away, launched on a rocket, landed using a sky crane, and now driving across an alien desert taking pictures so detailed you can count the rocks. 100 years ago, your great-grandparents thought airplanes were a miracle. You are scrolling past Mars on your phone.

BBC PAID HIM 6X MORE. THE TRIBUNAL SAID THAT WAS ILLEGAL. THE BBC SAID IT WAS COMPLICATED. Samira Ahmed @SamiraAhmedUK presented Newswatch on @BBC for years. Same format. Same length. Same job. Read viewer feedback on camera, wrap it up, go home. Jeremy Vine @theJeremyVine did exactly the same thing on Points of View. She got £440 per episode. He got £3,000. Ahmed spent years trying to fix it quietly through internal BBC processes. The BBC said there was no problem. She filed for tribunal. In January 2020, the tribunal ruled unanimously in her favour. The BBC could not explain the difference. They tried. They argued Vine needed "a glint in the eye" and to be "cheeky." The tribunal said that was not a skill. It was a story the BBC told itself. The total underpayment was close to £700,000. Sarah Montague, another BBC woman, settled separately for around £400,000. The National Union of Journalists flagged around 70 more cases waiting resolution internally. After Ahmed won, 700 BBC women received pay rises. The BBC's statement after losing? They regretted it had gone to tribunal. Not that they paid a woman six times less than a man for the same work for years. Just that it became public. Sources: @guardian, @BBC, @IFJGlobal, Others

Each man thought: one of the others is bound to say something soon, some protest, and then I’ll murmur agreement, not actually say anything, I’m not as stupid as that, but definitely murmur very firmly, so that the others will be in no doubt that I thoroughly disapprove, because at a time like this it behooves all decent men to nearly stand up and be almost heard… But no one said anything. The cowards, each man thought. - Guards! Guards!
