Kenya has shipped its first batch of exports to China under a new zero-tariff policy, marking a major step to boost trade. Products like avocados, coffee and green beans now gain wider access to a 1.4B market. #ChinaAfrica #Trade #Kenya #ZeroTariff

China is opening its market to African exports, but access remains competitive, with strict food safety and phytosanitary standards. Dr. Cavince Adhere notes that African exports to China have long focused on raw materials, but recent policies are creating chances to diversify—Kenya is a strong example. #ChinaAgenda2026

I thank His Excellency Antonio Guterres, @antonioguterres the United Nations Secretary General for appointing me as the next Executive Director of United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime and the Director General of UN office in Vienna @UN_Vienna. I appreciate the Secretary General’s confidence in my ability to steer these two important offices at the Under Secretary General level, at this critical point. Coming on the eve of the International Women’s Day, this appointment is demonstrative of the UNSG’s belief in women leadership. I sincerely thank H.E. President William Ruto @WilliamsRuto for the confidence he bestowed upon me in serving him as his, and the first, National Security Advisor of the Republic of Kenya, as Secretary to the National Security Council, and for enabling me to take this global assignment, demonstrating yet again his belief in Kenya making its contribution to the community of nations. I look forward to serving at this new mandate diligently and flying Kenya’s flag high, to the best of my ability. Thank You Kenya for preparing me to serve humanity!

Ni hao ma?👋🏾 My attendance at the #TwoSessions (两会) in Beijing this week has provided a strategic window into the next frontier of global development. Observing the submission of the 15th Five-Year Plan to the 14th National People’s Congress and Premier Li Qiang’s Government Work Report offers more than just political insight; it provides a blueprint for aligning Kenya’s national priorities with China’s domestic agenda. True Economic Diplomacy is rooted in the ability to observe, understand, and synchronize. By analyzing these trends at the source, we ensure that our bilateral partnerships remain proactive, ensuring Kenya is positioned to leverage the shifting tides of the global economy. #DiplomacyInActionKE

Between 1981 and 2020, in 40 years, China lifted 800 million of its citizens from poverty, accounting for 75% of overall global poverty reduction. That is roughly 200 million people lifted from poverty every 10 years. As of 2022, 20 million people in Kenya, 40% of the total population, live in poverty. It is possible to reduce this number by 10 million every 10 years, making our poverty eradication journey complete in 20 years.

The loss of a father carries a weight that is difficult to describe. A father’s presence shapes our direction, anchors our confidence and gives meaning to the everyday journey of life. I stand with Principal Secretary Dr. @SingoeiAKorir, his family and their loved ones as they mourn the passing of his father, Mzee John Kibiego Ole Sing’oei, who departed after a short illness. This is a deeply painful moment, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to the entire family. Mzee Sing’oei was more than a parent, he was a pillar of wisdom, calm strength and unshakable integrity whose influence stretched far beyond his home. His humility and kindness touched countless lives, leaving a mark that will not fade with time. As we remember him, we hold onto the comforting truth that his guidance, generosity and gentle spirit will continue to shine through the people he shaped and the values he lived by. On behalf of the @OfficePCS_KE, the Ministry of @ForeignOfficeKE and @Diaspora_KE and our entire team, we celebrate the life of Mzee Sing’oei and recognise the profound legacy he leaves behind. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his family find solace in knowing that his faith, resilience and service will continue to inspire generations.
