🚨 Breaking: Only one week into the new year — and it happened again.
Yesterday, a terrified carriage horse, abandoned by the driver, ran out of Central Park, charged through a four-way intersection on Sixth Avenue, and ran straight into incoming traffic, crashing into a taxi and two other vehicles, causing significant damage. People had to run to avoid being trampled. It is a miracle no one was killed.
Horses are nervous prey animals who bolt when frightened. This is a recurring public safety disaster — and it will keep happening until the NYC Council puts an end to it.

BREAKING: This video shows the four-way intersection at W 59th St & 6th Ave, where a carriage horse ran wild today, confirmed by NYPD. Left unattended with no driver, the frightened horse bolted into incoming traffic at this multi-lane Midtown crossing and did not stop until crashing into a yellow taxi and at least two other vehicles, according to witnesses. While it is a miracle no one was killed, we do not yet know whether anyone was injured or the condition of the traumatized horse. This level of danger is unacceptable for pedestrians, drivers, and horses alike. We respectfully urge @JulieMenin @NYCCouncil and @NYCMayor to advance Ryder’s Law, before the next incident turns deadly.
