Got a spare few moments, want to pick up some basics of carbon capture and storage #CCS and why #CCSRocks? Then listen to my @sciencemixtape podcast from last year - #poweringCCS audioboom.com/posts/6479788-…

@Graeme2030 @JonathanPieNews What about the second and third? Anyway I’ve heard it takes 24 hours for news to travel up to Scotland and back.

@UpshotTowers No mention of his period at the dons? Lasted less time than Liz Truss as PM!

@mikegalsworthy When my lad was 5 we visited hos uncle, looking at photos in his hall I said “Look at the nice pictures of the fishies” to which he replied “That’s a whale shark and that’s a Mola mola - also called a sun fish”. Curse the Octonaughts as that put my PhD in Marine Biology to shame

My 5-year-old daughter just whipped me in an argument.
She wanted me to play with her, but I was cleaning the kitchen. “It’s not fair,” she complained. “Yes, it’s not fair for me that I’m doing the work while you play,” I retorted.
She then said “and it’s not fair for me that I have no-one to play with - so we could make it fair for each other”

@AndiWheeler2016 @Number10cat They are playing with you. Your attempts to stop them just make them up their game.
English

@Number10cat We have two cats who are desperate to move in with us. We have to take ridiculous measures to make sure they don't get into our house. We KNOW they have an owner but one of them has had a really bad cold for months now and the poor thing is still out in all weathers 😢

@lJennyLindy @fopminui @historyinmemes Such utter racism and Islamophobia shouldn’t be tolerated on such forums. Not long ago a certain young Austrian lad and his German cronies burned lots of books, what religion where they?
English

@fopminui @historyinmemes I suggest it have serious security. Muslims throughout history have made libraries targets. They did so recently in France. Especially ones who have biblical history. Please don’t let it happen to this beautiful one.

In 2003, a significant discovery was made in the Sakya Monastery in Tibet. An ancient library containing a vast collection of 84,000 secret manuscripts was uncovered. These manuscripts, which are over 1,000 years old, are stored on traditional stacks measuring 60 meters in length and 10 meters in height. This extraordinary find offers a unique window into the history and culture of the region.
The Sakya Monastery, founded in 1073 by Konchok Gyelpo, is one of the most important centers of Tibetan Buddhism. The discovery of this ancient library within its walls has provided a wealth of information and insight into the development of this religious tradition and the history of the region.

@RHarrabin @BBCJustinR @ProfMarkMaslin @IOM_UK Not if your concerned about the #Climate and Iive in northern England, climate justice isn’t a commonly discussed issue in Europe. This will change soon
English

People concerned about the #climate will be delighted if #HS2 is cut, because it will take until next century for the line’s operational carbon savings to outweigh the embodied CO2 in the steel and concrete used to make it. @KatieAustinNews @BBCJustinR @ProfMarkMaslin @IOM_UK

@Mahmoud09 @historyinmemes Is that a Macdonald tartan curtain……. Bit weird

This is Captain Lewis Nixon of Easy Company, the morning after celebrating V-E Day (Victory in Europe Day) in 1945. You can see that he is terribly hungover.
In Berchtesgaden (southeastern Germany), Nixon had first dibs on an extensive wine collection that was assembled by Hermann Göring, a veteran World War I fighter pilot ace and one of the most powerful figures in the Nazi Party. The booze you see in the photo was stolen by the Nazis from wineries across France and other European occupied territories.
Throughout his service in World War II, Nixon never fired a single shot in combat, even though he experienced intense fighting on the front lines. Nixon was best remembered for always having whisky on him, and in particular for his love for the blended scotch whisky called Vat 69.
This is what Dick Winters, commander of Easy Company, had to say about Nixon: "Captain Lewis Nixon and I were together every step of the way from D-Day to Berchtesgaden, May 8, 1945, VE-Day. I still regard Lewis Nixon as the best combat officer who I had the opportunity to work with under fire. He never showed fear, and during the toughest times, he could always think clearly and quickly. Very few men can remain poised under an artillery concentration. Nixon was one of those officers. He always trusted me, from the time we met at Officer Candidate School. While we were in training before we shipped overseas, Nixon hid his entire inventory of Vat 69 in my footlocker, under the tray holding my socks, underwear, and sweaters. What greater trust, what greater honor could I ask for than to be trusted with his precious inventory of Vat 69?"
The drink was also a favorite of Sir Ernest Shackleton who decided to take it with him on his Imperial Trans-Antarctic Expedition of 1914 "for medicinal and celebratory purposes"
It took archaeologists and researchers 107 years to locate the wreck of Endurance, Shackleton's ship that sank in the Antarctic.

@JimSpenceDundee Why don’t Dundee and Dundee Utd share a stadium?
English

Not required. Celtic Park, Ibrox, and Murrayfield all more than adequate. Outrageous to spend a penny on a stadium to be used infrequently in a country of 5.5 million pounds.
BBC Sport Scotland@BBCSportScot
It's one of the longest-running debates in Scottish football - what to do with the national stadium? In 2020 architects Holmes Miller were commissioned to come up with a proposed redesign by the Scottish FA. Read more about what Hampden could look like in the future ⤵️
