The confidence is always inversely proportional to the quality of the stat. Yards allowed per game is a terrible proxy for defensive strength, and doubling down with it just makes the take even worse.

College football is in a weird spot. More people watching than ever. Athletes are as good as ever. The biggest showcase of the sport is broken. Two of the games feature a 17-point and 20-point spread. Coaches are in the media begging for 20 million dollars from a random donor to keep up in the NIL arms race. Rosters change by the year like we've never seen. Countless regional rivalries have died. Conferences make no sense.

If the game goes to script, it’s hard to see King being as relied-upon as the coaching staff will likely try to give him extra rest ahead of conference play - King DNP vs Gardner Webb, as the coaching staff wants to both give King ample rest while also developing Philo who is the heir apparent at QB. In wins at GT, King has thrown 31+ times just once in 16 games, and it was 31 exactly vs Duke, a game where King averaged just 5.4 yds/PA (the lowest avg in a win at GT). In nonconf wins, King is under this line in all 6 games. Prior to their matchup vs Gardner-Webb, HC Brent Key discussed the health of King, saying he was dealing with “a nagging lower-body injury” which he has had issues with his entire career. It seems highly unlikely he will play the entire game with his normal usage in a game Tech will likely win by multiple touchdowns. Temple has been the 17th slowest tempo team in CFB so far this year, as they take 29.8 sec/play on offense. This is scheduled to be the slowest pace team that King has faced in a victory in his Georgia Tech career.
