I have an idea for what the Chainlink Reserve might be used for in the future. Tokens released into circulation have been used for a variety of purposes, but one of them is supporting staking yields. By Q2 2030, all $LINK tokens are projected to be in circulation, thus eliminating this pool of $LINK used to bootstrap network development and smooth staking yields. Platform revenues can be inconsistent, so the Chainlink Reserve can be used to smooth out these yields and make them more predictable. Think of it like a stabilization reserve. Norway’s Government Pension Fund Global (GPFG) and Abu Dhabi’s ADIA do this with commodity revenues. Chainlink has communicated that they expect no withdraws from the reserve for several years, aligning with the depletion of the $LINK treasury. I created a simple tool for projecting total accumulation by 2030 and there are very reasonable scenarios where $2.5B worth of $LINK could be available to support this theory.
