Remember this article from Jenni Murray in 2017. Totally reasonable, nothing extreme, just saying men can’t be women. Then there was all the protests, calls to cancel talks, The BBC warned her, restricted her on air, and by 2020 she left Woman’s Hour. But she never backed down, even as the pushback continued for years. This is how speaking honestly costs you in public life. But she was forever right. Rest in peace, brave and courageous Jenni Murray. thetimes.com/article/490f2f…

@DeathlyAcorn @JChimirie66677 @EdwardJDavey Yes the theological issue wanes a bit when you understand they all claim exclusivity. It’s a cultural issue, politicians have always tried to avoid a culture war but that is what we have. Easier to send immigrants back than have a robust, enforceable integration strategy.

@JChimirie66677 @EdwardJDavey Every Abraham religion claims themselves to be the true faith above others. Have you even read the ten commandments? Next week Christians will be having an event in trafalgar square proclaiming Jesus to be the son of God but you won't find anyone moaning about it

Imagine being a Christian woman, joining the Church to promote Gods word Rising to the position of Archbishop of Canterbury. Then, as a vote is being taken in the House of Lords to allow abortion to birth. You attend a 'walk' instead, so you can swerve responsibility Abhorrent

I will always make decisions in the national interest. That’s why we did not join the offensive action against Iran.    Reform and the Tories would’ve rushed us into war without a plan to get us out.

@PippaCrerar Odds on most of that £53m being unspent by Christmas. Postmasters still waiting, Covid jab injured offered minimal amounts and WASPI women still waiting for Labour to come good on its manifesto promises.

Keir Starmer announces that £53m will go to poorest households using heating oil for help with bills, after costs surged since outbreak of Iran conflict. PM adds that suppliers engaged in price gouging will face legal action - and future market regulation.

Keir Starmer says that while UK will take "necessary action" to defend UK and allies "we will not be drawn into the wider war". Donald Trump's call for allies to send ships to Strait of Hormuz to protect commercial shipping vessels & unblock global oil supplies has been met with a muted response so far. "I want to see an end to this war as quickly as possible, because the longer it goes on, the more dangerous the situation becomes, and the worse it is for the cost of living back here at home," PM says. Starmer adds that UK is working with European allies on a "viable collective plan" to restore navigation as quickly as possible, easing economic impacts.

@MatthewPFirth @ClareCraigPath Well, the vote isn’t actually to change termination dates at all, just decriminalising an old law. It will still be against the law to abort in the last weeks of pregnancy. You might want to do do a bit more homework.

Every bishop with a seat in the House of Lords is morally obliged to be personally present there on Wednesday to vote against abortion up to birth, save for illness or bereavement etc.

@afneil @KemiBadenoch Most of the oil through the Strait of Hormuz goes East, not West, so maybe China and Japan should be sending warships?

75% of abortions now happen away from a clinic and a woman simply phones up to ask for pills. If she says she's under the legal limit, they send them to her in the post. They have no way of knowing otherwise. This new law would mean women can administer their own abortions up to birth for any reason - easy to do if you can just phone up and get abortion pills by claiming to be 8 weeks pregnant when you're actually 38 weeks! This is dangerous to women- especially those vulnerable to coercion. This is just a stepping stone to in clinic abortions to birth. I’ll explain how: First they decriminalise the woman at home for taking a pill, then, when a few fatalities happen as late abortions with pills away from a clinical setting is very dangerous, there’ll be a lobby for in-clinic full-term abortion to be permitted. It's their playbook. A slippery slope we must down descend down.

If Sarah Mullally doesn’t vote against abortion up to birth, how can she call herself a Christian, let alone an archbishop? Next week we watch the Church of England.
Dr. Calum Miller@DrCalumMiller

The first real test of Sarah Mullally's appointment as Archbishop of Canterbury Will be the vote on abortion UP TO BIRTH in the UK House of Lords this coming Wednesday If she or other bishops fail to turn up, the Church of England will have clearly lost its entire moral compass

Watch this. @Ed_Miliband is spot on. What we came into government to do; bring down energy bills, make the UK energy independent and create tens of thousands of jobs through investing in renewable energy infrastructure and supply chains was right and it’s even more important now
The Labour Party@UKLabour

The Labour Government is taking £150 off the cost of your energy bills. And we're taking the action needed to bring down bills for good by investing in homegrown energy so we don't remain at the mercy of international markets.

We have been made aware of a distressing image doing the rounds today, suggesting Tottenham have beaten us 3-1. This has clearly been photoshopped, and we will be taking this up with the relevant authorities. Even we'd beat Spurs...

The IPCC says snowfall should become less frequent in a warming world. Yet when Japan was buried by record snow in January 2026, the explanation changed. Researchers claimed global warming increased the snowfall. The storm itself was straightforward. A prolonged surge of Arctic air crossed the Sea of Japan, producing intense snowbands. Sapporo transport shut down. Aomori set depth records. Communities across northern Honshu were buried. Instead of simply pointing to the cold-air outbreak though, researchers at Japan's Meteorological Institute instead ran "climate model simulations". The models concluded warming increased snowfall by about 7%. So the theory now reads: global warming reduces snow, except when it increases snow. Under this framework, every possible outcome appears to confirm the same conclusion. "A theory that explains everything explains nothing."
