Another one of Jordan’s bangers that made me understand he was the best possible ally one could have in the fight for the soul of the university: when he spoke straight to the hearts of young people from the belly of the beast at Harvard. The Lord’s work, truly.

Every time somebody asks "are you Tristin Hopper?" I say "no, but he is" ... and then I point to my least favourite person in the room. When that person doesn't get assaulted or yelled at, only then do I reveal the ruse.

In 1993, Chief Charlene Belleau said nothing about her uncle/grandfather/great uncle/great grandfather's "suicide" or him being flogged until he passed out (she didn't even know about his existence until late in her life). She claimed that she and her mother had positive experiences at the residential school (St. Joseph's Mission in Williams Lake). The problems she identified were things like "loss of language" and being assigned a student number.
Dan Legris@danlegs28

@FrancesWiddows1 Here is the link to her 1993 testimony …erche-collection-search.bac-lac.gc.ca/eng/Home/Recor… Her mother said her experience was positive, and she testified "Personally, my own experience at residential school was positive" Goes on to talk about rankings etc... well my school organized desks in that manner ffs

Thank you very much for commenting on this @Aaronpete_. My position is that Chief Charlene Belleau's "individual experiences" would need to be weighed against other forms of evidence. As of today, it is clear that Chief Belleau is an unreliable witness. She did not even know Augustine Allen, as he died in the 1920s when he was approximately nine years old. She has referred to him as her uncle, her great uncle, her grandfather and her great grandfather. We don't even know with certainty that he is related to her. Chief Belleau is also not just an innocent Elder who has accidentally weighed in on this topic. She is using her power to try to have me silenced. She is a major player in the residential schools discussion and the censorious environment that surrounds it. I will be doing a post on Belleau today, and I would be happy to discuss this further with you when I have compiled my research. At the same time, I should also stress that I do not think that Belleau should be cancelled or intimidated in any way. She has not engaged in threats or "hate speech". She has made a "wish", which is not a threat. Although she perhaps is opening me up to "destestation and vilification", I don't think she is doing this on the basis of a "protected ground" that I have. And even if she were, I don't think that "hate speech" should be illegal and would oppose any attempt to punish her. The biggest problem is @UBC. There were many alarming things said by Derek Thompson, the Director of Indigenous Engagement. He seems to believe that the Musqueam should determine who is able to speak on campus because of "truth and reconciliation". @UBC really needs to reverse course and invite you and me, and perhaps Belleau and Thompson, to have an open and honest discussion about these matters.

I debated on responding to this. But it is an issue that will continue to come up - so it’s probably worth taking the time to comment. First, and most obviously - this persons perspective is not appropriate, not respectful, and I do not condone this type of rhetoric. With all due respect, I’ll ask people to remember that these aren’t intellectuals advocating for the pursuit of truth that you’re highlighting and posting about. Brittany, Frances, and others - were in the pursuing truth and advocating for the debate of ideas in a free country. That’s not where this lady is coming from. I’m not excusing her behaviour but I do hope explaining it helps us find common ground. I ask with great humility that you put yourself in her shoes. This lady was likely abused. When she hears denialism, a word plagued with poor definitions, I’m certain that she believes that Frances is denying the abuse she went through, and the abuse her friends and family went through. I’ve interviewed @FrancesWiddows1 and I know that’s not what she’s denying. She is not denying this lady’s individual experiences. So, similar to a domestic violence victim, or a person who’s experienced trauma - when she hears someone’s denying her worldview and experience - she wishes them harm. That doesn’t make that statement okay, and again no matter what this rhetoric isn’t good. When hearing from people with lived experiences, I propose we walk lightly and ask for respectful dialogue from them.

If the CPC doesn’t realize that things aren’t working soon they are going to get cooked. The problem isn’t Pierre, his approvals hovered in some polls around -4, even if the leader was +5 we would still lose. We are simply losing on the issues irrespective of leadership. If you say grocery inflation, immigration, crime one more time it won’t change anything. Anybody that deeply cares about those issues is already voting for us, you’re still campaigning like it’s 2024. We saw last election that while the economy is important for a large part of the electorate there are other issues that are also very important. According to abacus data we are losing on housing affordability, healthcare, Canada-US relations, job security, AI policy, etc. How is talking about grocery prices, immigration (especially when we already have net-negative migration now), crime going to help us on those issues? It won’t. @CPC_HQ Needs to smarten up fast. #canpoli

I just can't imagine abasing myself like this. I'm dying inside for her -- a total repudiation of everything she's ever said and done. For a seat in the Liberal backbench, and 30 seconds of fame. What an eternal disgrace. And the thing is: neither side respects her.

@Scorpio_Karen18 @PierrePoilievre “Literally every thing out of his mouth is to fuel the uneducated and ill informed maple MAGAs because he knows they are his only supporters” is not an example. But if everything he says is hateful it really shouldn’t be hard for you to post one specific thing. I’ll wait.

Literally every thing out of his mouth is to fuel the uneducated and ill informed maple MAGAs because he knows they are his only supporters. He’ll say anything to keep his base and his job. Mark Carney is a highly educated economist with top-tier academic credentials, including a PhD in economics from the University of Oxford. He graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor's degree in economics before completing his Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy at Oxtord. In addition, prior to his roles as Governor of the Bank of Canada and Bank of England, he held a 13-year career at Goldman Sachs, following his academic training. “Jeff” barely squeezed out a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary. He is a weak bit player in a cheap suit.

Canada… your liberal government has told you: You are going to have to suffer. That nostalgia is gone. Your life as you knew it is gone and he’s not letting it come back. He has laughed and smiled while telling you you’re in denial if you don’t follow him… and encouraged you to vilify anyone who is against his governance. He mocked a First Nations protestor saying “I can outlast her”. He frequently uses fear based language like “rupture”, “hinge moment”, “dangerous”, “divided world”… while never giving examples as to what he means. His answer to every problem is more government power, spending, and control. He picks winners and losers and funds the outcome he wants through subsidies. He says he doesn’t like democracy and how opposition can stall him from doing what he wants. He wants ultimate power, without pushback. He wasn’t even living in this country until just before he put his name in the ring. He condemns America, while his entire income (outside of PM salary) comes from the USA. His family lives there. He and his children chose to go to school there. His record is worse than Justin Trudeau (who he advised financially for years behind the scenes). You’ve got to be kidding me…

Interesting. I don’t see the sellout MPs as a reflection of his poor leadership, more of their selfishness and lack of integrity. They are all free to explain in what ways he has failed as leader of the CPC and not one has at all. Why is that? Can you name someone who you think would be better than Poilievre? Just curious who you’d pick.

@ChanLPfa @PierrePoilievre That's just it. He isn't doing anything right. The @CPC_HQ ship is sinking, and his colleges know it and see it. This is why they are bailing on him, and also money talks strangely enough. So fuck him and all the rest of the HOC.

I hope people understand what the media is doing. They are actively trying to convince the public that Pierre is the reason for people crossing the floor. They sure don’t want you to think about what these Party traitors were offered to cross. And why do they care so much about getting Pierre out? Because he is still the Libs biggest threat.
