Great first half for the Brisbane lions. Although, it’s time for the third quarter. In the last two weeks they have conceded 20 goals in third quarters. Brisbane lions review: A longer one this week Well, firstly credit to GWS that third quarter was impressive, BUT that effort from the lions was like playing on that ground with no opposition. This is the worse version of the Brisbane lions that the AFL has seen in 7 years. It’s going to be a tough week. I think it’s clear they have been up for 4-5 years that the hunger is simply not there, is it fixable? It seems a mental thing now. The AFL world wants them to fall, because who wants the same team to win it over and over? It’s how it works. Has the contract talk of Zac Bailey and Lachie Neale distracted them? Possibly. Now structurally, The ability to not transition the ball from defence to offence is concerning, Brisbane’s ability to defend is a big worry also, leaking big scores. Losing Brandon Starcevich is more of an issue than first thought although no excuse. The list on paper is ridiculous. Defensively one of the worst team in the comp right now. Dayne Zorko, Jarrod Berry and Noah Answerth should all return next week, although this is not an injury list problem now. Some massive form issues with Jaspa Fletcher, Hugh McCluggage, Zac Bailey, Will Ashcroft, Harris Andrews, Kai Lohmann and Josh Dunkley plus more all struggling big time. BUT, am I writing the lions off? Not a chance. The lions move on to Fremantle at the Gabba which right now is a massive task. I will report through the week and do my best to cover bases. #AFLFantasy
