@Shiwon_NZ_Ao Agree they need more, for all our sakes. We don’t want to lose experts. But how we will we fund it? Are means tested NHS charges or cuts to other services the only way this happens?

For those wondering if a consultant doctor should earn more than £100,000… Do you have a clue what job they do? Do you have any idea the amount of knowledge they have to accumulate to perform their job? Do you know the decades of practical experience they have to attain? 1/4

@MoneySavingExp Used many car hire companies before for work and they are reasonable until you get any damage, at which point the excess is ridiculous.

@JosiahMoth06 The Blackwall tunnel derby 😂 would love it if Charlton could get to play clubs like West Ham. Great supporters and nice and local.

@THINKgovuk Why would people be waiting to cross if people crossing have the right of way? What are they waiting for?

Over the last 8 years of living in South London, there has been at least one copy of Hellraiser on VHS on top of the bus stop at East Street. The most I have ever seen up there is three. No idea how they get there, no idea who regulates it. But it has always been one of my favourite things, a little bit of solitude in the big city. But recently, for a considerable amount of time, there has been no sign of them. Removed by the council? Vandals? Who knows? Today, I saw a fresh copy had been placed. It made me feel like all was well in the world again.

@JustStop_Oil I bet the government will be devastated that you interrupted a first round snooker match between two relatively unknown players 😂 NEXT

🎱 NEW OIL AND GAS WILL SNOOKER US 🦺 At around 7:20pm, two Just Stop Oil supporters have disrupted the World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, interrupting play. The pair proceeded to cover the tables in orange powder paint before being removed by security and arrested. 🛢️ They are demanding that the Government immediately stop all new UK fossil fuel projects and are calling on UK sporting institutions to step into in civil resistance against the Government’s genocidal policies. 🚷 Sign up to slow march at juststopoil.org 🌡 Attend a welcome talk at bit.ly/JSOevents 💸 Support us at bit.ly/JSOdonate3 #CivilResistance #A22Network #JustStopOil #NoNewOil #NoNewCoal #EnoughIsEnough #ClimateCrisis #ClimateChange #CostOfLivingCrisis #CostOfGreedCrisis #UK #Government #FossilFuels #CivilDisobedience

Truly diabolical that Prime Minister @RishiSunak wants all kids in England to be able to add up when they leave school. Doesn’t he realise what a grotesque insult this is to all the nation’s dumb, lazy, innumerate wastrels?

@cyclegaz Blimey! Awful dangerous driver! The rear view camera shows how bad their Road positioning was beforehand. Makes you wonder if the left turn was a last second decision and there was zero look, or if they did look and chose that stupidly timed manoeuvre.

I'm shocked the Met Police issued an awareness course to this driver. If I was not hyperaware, on a bike with hydraulic disk brakes, and extremely experienced at using said brakes, this would have resulted in a collision that would have left me with serious injuries.

@DaveF63 @carltonreid Do councils not plan street parking with emergency vehicles in mind? That would allow roads to remain open but guarantee width (barring illegal parking).

@CharlieBugabuga @carltonreid They *do* block which is why fire services tweet about it. Why aren't you crying about that? twitter.com/Beds_FireCtrl/… twitter.com/999Ben/status/… You might as well argue 'cul-de-sacs block ambulances. Emergency service's journeys are "planned appropriately" at shift briefings

Difficult access to a house fire in #Lowestoft this evening for @SuffolkFire #firefighters due to parked cars. Only just enough hose reel on one side to reach the house. Access required all around the fire engine to get equipment off. Fortunately it wasn't further up the road.

@DaveF63 @carltonreid Dave. We can all find articles that agree our points. Prefer to have a conversation though, with differing viewpoints. As Carlton points out, the situation is different in Jesmond. Interesting to know, my experience of LTN’s could be similar for others around the UK.

@DaveF63 @carltonreid Confirms the one size fits all argument when I just confirmed the road is wide enough for fire engines. Parked cars could block roads………..bollards and planters definitely do. Parking spaces could also be planned appropriately by councils.

@carltonreid I did, I speak from personal experience of LTN’s in Islington, where planters prevented access to an ambulance, on streets wide enough for fire engines. I am reminded of the sad outcome by reading articles like this one with a one size fits all argument about narrow roads.

@elliotm_95 @BDShakespeare @phonekills @RBKC I agree a pedestrian crossing would be a solution. There isn’t one on many busy streets where there is rarely a gap in pedestrian traffic. Cars on the other hand will leave a gap for natural traffic across a junction/yellow box scenario, which becomes a natural opportunity to go

@CharlieBugabuga @BDShakespeare @phonekills @RBKC Wait? In the same way a driver would have to wait potentially several minutes to turn right across a stream of oncoming traffic, or pull onto a very busy main road. But if pedestrian flow is always so busy, then it’s an argument for a controlled crossing with lights.

@CharlieBugabuga @BDShakespeare @phonekills @RBKC The driver shouldn’t have started turning with the pedestrian either about to cross or already crossing, so this positioning should have been avoided altogether. The driver presumably wouldn’t just swerve across oncoming traffic to turn right.

@BDShakespeare @phonekills @RBKC Genuine question. Pedestrian approached the crossing at about the point in this screenshot. Was walking at that point as opposed to waiting to cross. How should the driver act? Considering they are now blocking traffic and an obstacle for oncoming cyclists.
