I'm going to relax tomorrow. First cows in the @WeCover_Steel. A lot of work by many to make this dream come alive.

@5151john 👍. Our year rolling avg is 4.6. No corn silage fed here. Few jerseys in the herd though.🤔

@tekmacrogersco1 No. This is organic SOP and Calphos for soybeans next year. We’ve been doing a 6 year rotation, with beans twice, following each other. Next year is a shorter season bean, followed by wheat.

We’ve had a few nice days for fall fertilizer and tillage. Fuelling up for another good one today. Sounds like a lot of rain tomorrow. We won’t get all done, but we’ll do what we can before then. There’ll be another good chance in November some time.

Grazing cover crops that was planted after spelt harvest. Not a lot of volume due to lack of 🌧️ but cows will be happy for a few days .

If you want to change the rural landscape, there’s only one law you have to change. Require every bushel to be hauled off the field with gravity wagons. That’s it. Keep the bushels local. Smaller elevators closer together. More feed mills. Walk it off the farm. What do we gain exporting our bushels at a global discount just to truck in global fertilizer at a premium? Manure for fertility, close the loop. Make gravity wagons great again

This portable corral is a necessity for us since we grass finish cattle on multiple unconnected properties. And we ship every 2 weeks, so sorting fats is made easy as well

@MattWShow Don’t stray too far from strives and Brutons here. Brutons are becoming more of my favourite even the stature of strives can be impressive. Still always curious on other varieties though

These pictured are Edwards. We’ve been planting them where we want to get wheat out. They are a very short season bean, and come off early for wheat, but their short season doesn’t allow them to cope well without rain at the exact right time, so yields can be up and down a bit more. Otherwise we like S03-W4’s and Strives….. The experiment continues. Do you have a favourite?

Another beautiful morning. The first soybeans are getting close ready for harvest. We might try them later today if barley planting and everything else goes well. When you look backwards, they sure change a lot in 4 months.

@stone_grace_ Especially good year, usually a little more winter kill in parts of fields and usually a field that just doesn’t yield as good for one reason or another

@CharlieCumpson That’s a satisfying way to wrap up the season, Charlie Do you usually get this kind of consistency, or was this year especially good?

Last field of organic spelt for the year. Very consistent, well yielding in every field. Lots of straw for the pack barns this winter.

Introducing @JohnDeere multi colour baler... you can now identify bales baled by a John Deere baler being identified by their iconic green and yellow colour scheme.

@RSHFarms Any suggestions on where custom baling rates are at for 3x3 bales ? These balers are getting expensive to replace…
