Northern has received government approval to replace its class 323s with 37 Porterbrook owned class 350s. The fleet will receive a £25M refurb and the first five will enter service late next year. flic.kr/p/2r3vFWx

@QuakerPete @wallygridboy Crosscountry still use platform 1 going northbound in some hours. Likewise northern use it every hour. Im sure Darlington is still going to be better sheltered than Northallerton, Thirsk, Durham (in parts) so its still more than the minimum

@CharlieRWalker @wallygridboy 🤣 I have a feeling there'll be more than a smattering of people making their voices heard in December. Incidentally, when I went to the new station and saw platform 1 deserted, I found it rather sad from what was a very busy and bustling concourse.

Can't help but notice the spare land next to the New Platform 6 at Darlington *could* be an ideal spot for a Small Light Maintenance Depot for Northern,would save some of the ECS moves to/from Heaton+add resilience to the Bishop-Saltburn/Whitby services.

@alanw63 @RailUKForums @SouthernRailUK A lot of people who dont drive use bikes to cycle a few miles to stations and then cycle a few miles at the other end. Refusing bikes alienates a lot of passengers so essential they are allowed to travel.

@QuakerPete @wallygridboy Yes. You should have had to go over the bridge as it should have been an island platform. Hence why the waiting room is upstairs!

@connorclarke16 @callumLtfc @NeilNeilasher @EastMidRailway Connor. The trains are exactly where the blockade was meant to be. They wont be able to get engineering trains and other heavy equipment in to work whilst the trains and investigation/recovery is ongoing.

@callumLtfc @CharlieRWalker @NeilNeilasher @EastMidRailway It won’t be postponed. Especially with it being a fatal incident. Plus due to one of the trains now derailed it’s going to be shut for a couple of days

@NeilNeilasher @EastMidRailway Also worth noting that this is likely to take a number of days to clear at least. As more information becomes available EMR will update the travel info.
