Regardless of how you feel about EPRA, this letter is absolutely baffling. It comes from some people I respect and think highly of as modelers and analysts but is absolutely riddled with falsehoods and conflating modeling findings. Absolutely bizarre.

@Turbotron2000 @ChazTeplin @d_feldman @SolarInMASS Also idling. The lights need to stay on, so you must keep the engine running. Sometimes for hours. I'd say 2/3 of our fuel consumption was idling e.g. waiting for the tow truck to tow a crashed vehicle. If there was a fatality, you easily have to close the road for several hours.

@Turbotron2000 @d_feldman @SolarInMASS So … about 2.3 mpg for us Americans. If diesel is $4/gallon. $25k / $4/g = 6250 gallons. So they drive about 15,000 miles. That is way too many miles.

@energysmartwv You scared me. I checked my usage with my span panel and my AOSmith is still working in HP mode after 2 years. But it is terrible if HPHW heaters are defaulting to resistance mode

My own is failing. It woke me up last week with a high temp discharge error which is usually a precursor to compressor failure. My other one shows a strange error that isn’t in the manual but online points to compressor failure. Two of my most recent clients that installed them had them fail. What the hell is going on? I’m totally gunshy and just using resistance electric tanks.

It drives me absolutely nuts that I don’t trust heat pump water heaters right now. They are such an incredible option when they work well, they can save enough electricity to offset an entire EV’s usage. Please fix this @AOSmithHotWater @rheem_water @waterheatersale

A fact that @mattyglesias points out in his newsletter today that a lot of people don't realize is that 🇺🇸's tax + transfer policies are quite re-distributive. Matt has a good chart on it but here's another one I think is helpful. It shows the main issue is pre-distribution.

@ClaireWayner HOAs are inevetable if you want to have any kind of shared community resources. Want townhouses with shared walls and roofs? Or a community clubhouse or pool? Even shared EV chargers. You need a system to pay for those things and manage them. You need an HOA.
