So I ask God each day to keep you safe, because your absence from others would be a greater tragedy than the selfish desire to keep you all to myself. My favorite part of being a professor is writing letters of recommendation for my best students. It puts into perspective why this job and why this vocation. There are many things in academia we can complain about and rightly so. But not this part.
