If it was conclusively proven Trump’s Butler assassination attempt was a stunt, would this matter to the MAGA faithful?

@danpfeiffer My question is whether we can really call it a "big win." A win is a win, no doubt, and thank god for it, but it seems way closer than it should have been.

1. Some thoughts on the big Democratic win in VA last night. First, once again, Democratic voters showed that they wanted Democrats to fight fire with fire when it comes to taking on Trump. Yes, we oppose gerrymandering, but we can't ban it from the minority.

Thank you to all the voters who turned out to vote against this egregious power grab. The race was much closer than the left expected because Virginians know a 10-1 map is not Virginia. I urge the Virginia Supreme Court to rule against this unconstitutional process that will disenfranchise millions of Virginians.

Sue O'Connell: COMMENTATOR, not a reporter
@ChickOnTheBoat I didn't say that. My point is that reform takes years and sometimes decades. When I urge people to take political action, the pushback I often hear is "we already voted for an audit and nothing happened." My answer is: yet. Change requires dedication and sustained pressure.

Journalists keep telling you how bad Massachusetts is on government transparency. And we will keep telling you because that's our job. But voters have to act. Yes, I know you voted for an audit that still hasn't happened. But do you give up? That's how reform works: it's slow, it's frustrating, it takes years of sustained pressure. And that's how the staus quo stays the status quo. But dedication pays off. It took almost 50 years to repeal Roe V Wade. 25 years to get same sex marriage rights. Legal cannabis has been moving for 30 years and still isn't federal law. Journalists can only expose it. We can't force it. Only you can. Massachusetts just "won" the SPJ's 2026 Black Hole Award for some of the worst public records laws in the country. So what can you actually DO about Massachusetts' awful transparency laws? Here's where to start: -Call your state rep & senator. Not email. Call. Say: "I want to know where you stand on public records reform: shorter deadlines, real penalties for stonewalling, and completing the audit voters already approved." THEN email them this link and ask them if they're proud to win such a prestigious award! -Show up. Constituent meetings, town halls, State House hearings on transparency legislation. Show up in numbers. Not just as individuals. -File a public records request yourself. Yes, you can do that. When agencies get buried in volume, it creates pressure. Document and publicize when you get denied or stonewalled. -Join orgs already fighting this — ACLU of Massachusetts, MuckRock, New England First Amendment Coalition. Coalition-build with neighbors, civic groups, PTAs. Transparency affects everyone. You don't have to agree with everything these organizations are working on... -Make it a voting issue. Ask every candidate directly what they will do to increase transparency. -Amplify journalists reporting on this. Share it. Tag your electeds. Make them uncomfortable. Share the news of this award with your state lawmakers, and ask them what reforms they support. spj.org/spj-names-stat…

Megyn Kelly just got brutally honest about HRT: “I’m on it and I love it.” She says it completely fixed her dry eye, cleared brain fog, improved her skin, and made her feel vibrant again — things she had no idea were hormone-related. Her attitude? “I’m going down swinging.” No shame in doing what actually works as you get older. Josh Duhamel backed her up, saying she’s the perfect poster child for it and the science is there. It’s one of the most refreshing takes I’ve heard on a topic people usually tiptoe around. Have you (or someone you know) tried HRT and seen real changes?

Unfiltered Thoughts (Justice For John O’Keefe)
Another great clip from @adamdeitch’s interview- Deitch gives an example of a case he worked on during college… ironically a murder case that is eerily similar to #johnokeefe’s death (with the bodies being found in a yard) “A rush to judgment, investigators and prosecutors taking shortcuts, drawing conclusions before all the evidence was collected, and that’s exactly what we’ve seen here in some big cases. And in that case, Lee was convicted and sent to prison for more than half of his life, for a crime he didn’t commit. And sure enough, the DNA matched a convicted murderer and rapist in Illinois who went off scott free” Did anyone in the @MassStatePolice or Norfolk DA’s office ever care to find out who the 5 unknown male DNA on John O’Keefe’s clothing belongs to? 😏 Because we know it doesn’t belong to #KarenRead VOTE ADAM DEITCH FOR THE NEXT NORFOLK DA

@SenSchumer @SecRubio yeah. And he wasn't supposed to be able to go to war without Congressional approval. And yet . . . here we are. This Congress will do NOTHING to stop him. Step down @SenSchumer and let someone with a spine lead the Senate Ds.

I can promise this: The Senate will not vote to leave NATO and abandon our allies just because Trump is upset they wouldn’t go along with his reckless war of choice.   Thank you to @SecRubio for sponsoring the bill in 2023 requiring a two thirds vote of the Senate to make sure clueless presidents couldn’t act on a whim.
Senator Marco Rubio: Archived@SenMarcoRubio

No U.S. President should be able to withdraw from NATO without Senate approval. Thankful my colleagues in Congress passed this bipartisan measure.
