Know when #America was great? When reasonable ppl had reasonable, yet opposite political views, still respected each other & worked together to improve this country and her citizens. We NEED #liberals. We NEED #conservatives. And we HAVE to work together. That’s what will #maga

This is what you came up with? You had all night & all morning & you landed on a corny Helen Mirren meme? lol The only reason I have the blue ✔️is so I don’t have a character limit when replying to twats like you And I wasn’t criticizing the USMNT at all…they are no doubt elite athletes in peak physical fitness. I was criticizing the poster who claims they run for 90+ minutes straight (when factually they actually “run” a small fraction of that time) & who said other sport athletes (including your precious Saquon) couldn’t possibly do it

Ahh yes, another sports team fan boy account (who dabbles in hot button politics bc he needs more engagement for those daddy Elon deposits) who thinks his opinion matters bc he’s convinced thousands of idiots to “follow” him…when in reality he doesn’t actually have an opinion of his own. All he does is repost other people’s (actually good) content, reply with memes, and occasionally chirp in with an irrelevant snarky comment What an existence There isn’t an original thought or idea anywhere in your feed. I bet you’re gonna try to whip one up tho that you think will really stiiiing! lol

Who will be QB next year? With playoff/natty expectations back in Norman, future draft picks available in the portal every year, & with our last homegrown being a dud, would BV really risk starting a sophomore (Bentley), or an incoming freshman, even if they look ready? Seems unlikely to me. Seems like a portal bridge guy is more likely, but would love to hear your thoughts I’d be pumped if Big Whitt got a legit opportunity tbh lol

Still don’t believe the numbers? Here are some more. And 15.6 mph isn’t that fast actually. NFL lineman, the fattest dudes on the field lol, hit 16 mph regularly. So, what they define as a sprint is even slow by sprint standards Again, I’m not saying soccer players aren’t very fit. I’m just saying they definitely don’t run for 90 minutes…not even close. And athletes in any other high intensity sport would have no problem keeping that pace

Probably the most misunderstood part about soccer is the type of athlete it requires. Soccer players run close to 10 miles and are in motion for 90 minutes. NFL players run about 1.5 miles and are in motion for like 6ish minutes. You need marathoners, not quick twitch.

Omg you’re all saying the same thing. Just watch a match! Objectively! Besides the 3-5 players around the ball, everyone else is standing/walking/jogging for the majority of the minutes Sure, there are long sprints. But they are few and far between. Most are around 3-7 seconds Here’s a fun read…and it completely contradicts everything you claim. Yall keep mistaking facts for criticism pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23168374/

@Chilly__J @ShehanJeyarajah Yeah bc all 10 of the field players are lighting jogging the whole time… most soccer players are sprinting more times in a game than a WR. Wingers go on 40+ sprints a game. 3 times the average receiver in a much smaller time series

I don’t need more time. I’ve watched plenty of soccer and understand it perfectly well. It’s not a complex sport, quite simple actually And I never said it’s low skill with bad athletes. Thats not true at all. I’m just saying it doesn’t require any more special skills or any more special athletes than any other team sport

I’ve watched plenty of soccer and understand it perfectly well. It’s not a complex sport, quite simple actually Teams only use like 2-3 formations a game. And it’s just about spacing, attacking gaps, finding mismatches & number advantages, and countering when possible. It’s similar to hockey & basketball actually What are these enigmatic soccer dynamics I can’t possibly understand? lol

@tanayj @ShehanJeyarajah You just described the tempo of American football…which is yall’s whole argument about how soccer requires much more cardio lol But in football, you’re also slamming into or getting slammed by 250+ lb guys every 35 seconds

@Chilly__J @ShehanJeyarajah they aren’t at one speed for the whole game. They’re covering that distance with the ball at the feet for 5%, running a mix of 10, 20, 30 yard sprints, walking, still, jogging and running. It’s more like a HIIT workout

No it wasn’t. Jamaica is known for cranking out world class sprinters, not footballers. Bolt focused on track…bc that’s what his skills/coaching were elite at. He only pursued soccer after his track career I played basketball competitively for 37 years. And I played baseball in college, with multiple scholarship offers. You don’t know more than me. I might give you hockey, but based on your previous comments about physicality, I think I got you there too.

It sounds like you’re incapable of watching sports objectively, which makes it impossible to have a good argument According to you “the beautiful game” takes the most physical fitness, requires the most skill, is the hardest to play, requires the most mental toughness, has the best athletes, & athletes from other sports don’t have a chance. Literally none of that is accurate…you’re just biased in your love of it. Which is great, but doesn’t mean you’re right or objective Soccer is the world’s sport bc so many people play it. And there are by far more professional soccer players than any other sport. If it’s as difficult and grueling and as specialized as you claim, that wouldn’t be the case…there’d actually be very few pro players. And if you HONESTLY think soccer is more demanding on a person’s body than hockey or American football, then we’re done here. Bc that’s completely delusional Also, is Jamaica some soccer juggernaut that I didn’t know about? lol Dumb point about Bolt

All yall have the same reply lol So I’ll reply to same too. I’m not saying soccer players aren’t fit. I’m saying a “special” kind of athlete is not required, & the cardio/skillset required is not exclusive to soccer players. Most athletes would have no problem transitioning to soccer Surely you’re not comparing the physical toll of soccer to hockey!? lol A 2-minute shift is considered very long and exhaustive bc of the pace. And every game there are guys playing with pulls, strains, broken bones etc. Bergeron played the SC Finals with a punctured lung ffs lol And what sport doesn’t have a mental aspect? That’s not an argument for (or against) soccer

I’m not saying soccer players aren’t fit. I’m saying the claim that the cardio level it requires is only exclusive to soccer players is a dumb myth. And it doesn’t require a “special” kind of athlete Bottom line tho, soccer haters need to quit acting like every NBA/NFL player would be a great soccer player. And soccer diehards need to quit acting like they wouldn’t be. Truth is in the middle Love your content btw, and I’m geeked you replied lol Boomer!

I do not. I’m saying the claim that soccer requires a level of cardio fitness that no other sport athletes could attain is a dumb myth. A “special” kind of athlete is not required The original post is the one saying they’re constantly running for 90+ minutes…we all know that’s not the case. There are intense bursts of speed/energy usage sometimes, then it’s back to walking/jogging. These bursts are more often in soccer, but the tempo is fairly similar to American football actually. Blasphemy I know! lol

Every sport at the highest level requires specific skillsets…some much more specialized than anything soccer requires. And no, the original post was talking about endurance Bottom line is tho, Americans need to quit acting like every great NBA/NFL player would also be a great soccer player. And Europeans need to quit acting like they wouldn’t be. It’s a fact tho that if soccer was the #1 sport in America, we’d be much much better at it

@Chilly__J @TroopaKing @ShehanJeyarajah I can basically agree with that entirely. However, the best footballers require a very specific skillset, one made up of various components and distinct from that of other sports. And that is what the initial discussion was about.

I’m not claiming soccer players aren’t fit. I’m saying the 8 miles/game argument is dumb. And I’m saying soccer doesn’t require a “special” kind of athlete that no other sport can match Soccer is the world’s sport bc so many people play it. If it required a highly specialized type of athlete & it was so hard & unattainable, that wouldn’t be the case…there would be very few pro soccer players. But in fact, there are far more than any other sport

Not at all. Completing 8 miles in 100 minutes, with a 15 minute break (& 2 other 3 minute breaks) is very easy for anyone with even a bit of athleticism & cardio fitness. I’m not claiming soccer players aren’t fit. I’m saying it doesn’t take a “special” kind of athlete…that’s why it’s the world’s sport, bc a TON of ppl play it. Also, how many of those 100 minutes is the ball actually at each player’s feet? A very small fraction

Ryan@coachryanjones·
Except that soccer isn’t a game played at one continuous speed. It’s essentially high intensity actions repeated 100’s of times over the course of 90 minutes. Walk > jog > sprint > sprint > jog > sprint etc. That’s also ignoring the mental aspect of the game.
Be’eek 🇺🇸@Chilly__J

I’m already sick of the argument that other sport athletes couldn’t hang or be as effective as #soccer players bc of their cardio fitness The average soccer player runs around 8 miles/game (not 10). Which sounds like a lot…until you calculate that that play for 90+ minutes. If the game was 100 min (90+10 stoppage), 8 would be 12.5 min/mile! That’s not even CLOSE to a sprint, that’s not even a steady jog. Annnnd they take a 15 minute break halfway thru lol Every football, baseball, basketball & hockey athlete in America, at or above the high school level, could run (very lightly jog actually) 8 miles in 100 minutes. I’m 45 and could do it tomorrow without a doubt lol

I might be alone (and selfish) in this opinion, but I don’t really want the #USMNT to vastly improve. Bc that would mean many more young #American athletes are picking soccer over #football, basketball, baseball, hockey, track, gymnastics, swimming, etc Let the #Europeans have soccer. We’ll keep dominating in everything else #FIFAWorldCup

Not only is it attainable, but running (very lightly jogging actually) 7.5 miles in 100 minutes is quite easy for anyone with even a bit of athleticism & cardio fitness. It’s hardly exclusive to soccer players You don’t have to be thin, but you do have to be lean. And there are plenty of NFL/NBA players with body types comparable to Haaland’s, Zlatan’s, etc

@Chilly__J @BCitarella42847 @fadule_ It’s obviously attainable which is how they do it but from a calorie burning standpoint and body mechanics standpoint you have to be thin to do that consistently. A person with the build of an NFL running back simply couldn’t do it without significantly reducing muscle mass
