Turned 35 on Sunday. Started a year long active duty assignment at Ft. Liberty on Monday. Not saying goodbye to journalism - just tossing to a commercial break. There’s a weird combination of peaceful uncertainty inside my head right now. The best, my friends, is yet to be.

@BrockHBriggs @broadcastmike @washingtonpost I'd be interested to see the % of disabled vets, especially with PTS or other BH concerns, would be marketable in the information/service market versus "manual/physical labor" jobs. Not against conducting a modern analysis on the issue, but I think the discussion warrants depth.

I thought you had all the answers? 😂 No, I think there's a couple things at work there. 1. 20 years of war as you mentioned with a population where mental health is being destigmatized. The need, ability, and importantly the WANT from service members to receive care for PTS/D. Don't think prior generations of vets even considered this. 2. I do think that the rise of number 1 gives way to more erroneous actions. Vet facebook groups are flooded with "coaches" who, for a fee, will teach a seminar on how to get 100% disability rating. There are certainly people who need assistance litigating legitimate cases, but this is wrong. I'm far from okay with the motion to take away disability compensation, but the numbers are clearly starting to raise some people's eyebrows.

Yup. This is dumb. It was dumb when the CBO recommended it and it’s still dumb when the ⁦@washingtonpost⁩ Editorial Board opines upon it. Perhaps the costs associated with disability have risen so dramatically because of 20+ yrs of combat? washingtonpost.com/opinions/2023/…

@B_Cook6 @SecArmy Not making excuses, but this may change ldrship approach to tackling this. i.e. engaging three levels down to understand what the leadership looks like within C-T-Bs instead of focusing conversations at the BDE/BN and leaving younger cdrs/ldrs leading the fight where most needed

@B_Cook6 @SecArmy Many Ldrs are working 1 or 2 levels above the authorized pay grade due to manning shortages; esp in the NCO ranks. You might have an E-4 SL trying to fight harmful behaviors at the young age of 20 w/ a young E-6 or E-7 as the highest level of exp where the rubber meets the road.

Each Combatant Command will have its own challenges. Glad I learned about levels of interop @MCTP. @TradocDCG #WFX18-4!

After 2-wks in MOPP...we had our 1st day trip. On our way to Bee & Honey Cafe (벌이랑꿀이랑) we found a hidden spot (장모사랑) for an awesome spicy duck stew before grabbing some sweets & heading up to the top of 마아산. Wx was perfect. #2ndToNone @2INFDIV #landofthemorningcalm
