Cardinal Roche’s comments make no sense. He is like the executive who refuses to give up on New Coke even when the customers and young people are begging for Classic Coke. Then imagine that same executive insists on outlawing Classic Coke! To quote Pope Benedict: “What earlier generations held as sacred, remains sacred and great for us too, and it cannot be all of a sudden entirely forbidden or even considered harmful.” This spirit of rupture and the hatred of the Mass of the Saints is destructive, will weaken evangelization, and deprives the world of more sacrality when it is needed most. If the Mass is as central to the Catholic experience as Roche claims, why suppress what has always strengthened and unified the faithful? The Vatican needs to get its liturgical act together. One pope was wrong on this issue: was it Benedict (who liberated the Traditional Latin Mass) or Francis who restricted it? Logically they cannot both be right. Anyone?

To the people who are spreading lies about my trip to Ukraine and saying I was paid to travel here, you do realize I am a credentialed Pentagon correspondent right? Secretary of War Pete Hegseth personally told me that I have broken some of the most consequential national security stories this year and last year. Why are people shocked I traveled to a war zone? Isn’t that what you’re supposed to do when you’re a Pentagon reporter? Ukraine didn’t pay for my trip and they didn’t pay me. I don’t see anyone who actually impacts US foreign policy complaining about my trip.
