If Leeds lose v Forest. West Ham beat Burnley. Means West Ham are level on points with Leeds cos we spank them on the final day of the season. #AllEyesOnLeedsStill

#LUFC's 16 Remaining Premier League Fixtures 26 Jan - Everton (a) - 31 Jan - Arsenal (H) + 6 Feb - Forest (H) - 10 Feb - Chelsea (a) + 21 Feb - Villa (H) - 28 Feb - Man City (H) + 4 Mar - Sunderland (H) - 14 Mar - Palace (a) + 21 Mar - Brentford (H) + 11 Apr - Man Utd (a) + 18 Apr - Wolves (H) - 25 Apr - Bournemouth (a) + 2 May - Burnley (H) - 9 May - Spurs (a) - 17 May - Brighton (H) + 24 May - West Ham (a) - Four of Leeds' final 6 fixtures are against teams with a negative expected goal difference per game. Leeds are 11th in the xGD/90 table suggesting they should be around midtable. Recent form has turned their season around with the club sitting 6th in the form table after three wins, five draws and only one loss in the last 9 games. #LUFC have 6 wins in the league this season and 7 draws. It is very likely only around 4 more wins would see them avoid relegation - perhaps not even that. But should they replicate their current points per game (1.14) they would finish on 43 points - easily enough. But where are those points coming from? If you were targeting fixtures to get those 4 wins you might look at home games versus: Forest, Sunderland, Brentford, Wolves, Burnley and Brighton. The possible away wins could start with Everton in a week, as well as Palace who seem in disarray, Bournemouth, Spurs and a trip to West Ham - the final game of the season - though they will hope to secure safety earlier than that. But Leeds may not even need to target those 'easier on paper' fixtures, because the impressive thing about their recent form - is how difficult their fixtures were - going unbeaten against Liverpool home and away, beating Chelsea and getting a point against Manchester United. They have already strengthened in January and are looking at opportunities to add more. Daniel Farke has opposition managers second-guessing him and he has found ways to get the best out of the players he has. The squad has show it has depth too, with James Justin and others coming off the bench and impressing. With the shovels set to go in the ground in May this year, #LUFC are in a great place and seem to be united from ownership, to coaching staff, players and fans. All they have to do is finish the job this season and they can build in the summer both in the squad and in the ground, to establish themselves in the midtable of the Premier League before setting their sights higher in the next years.

Thanks to Angela Rayner, zero hours contracts will be banned, no-one will be subject to fire at will, no-one will be able to be fired and rehired, and no-one will lose their private rented home just cos their landlord wants them out. That's quite some legacy. Thank you Angela.

1. I’m so sad to see my friend @AngelaRayner leave the government. She was one of the Cabinet’s super star performers. A real class act. Everyone understandably focuses on her background but let’s be clear, she rose to Deputy PM because of her phenomenal political talent.

Right wing media has had it in for @AngelaRayner from the start - they couldn’t bear a working class woman being so powerful & dynamic. She made a mistake & has paid heavily for it. Hope she’ll return at some point in the future - our politics needs more voices like hers

Angela Rayner is one of the great British political figures of our time. Generations will grow up with stronger rights at work and in new homes because of her vision and leadership. I know she will continue to stand at the front of the fight for social justice in this country.

So in a blow to the doom-mongers, who have relentlessly criticised Reeves and Starmer, it turns out there's been solid growth overall for the first half of the year. Good news for Britain!

If Labour’s first year in power was about fixing the foundations, then the second year is about building a stronger economy for a renewed Britain. A renewed economy that works for working people – and rewards working people. My piece for @guardian: theguardian.com/commentisfree/…

One thing I respect about this government is their ability to act to remove ministers quickly when their position becomes untenable. This makes a refreshing change.

Thursday reminder - one year of a Labour Government makes a big impact! Since July 2024, we have delivered: • Promised 2 million extra NHS appointments and delivered 4 million • 3 trade deals with US, India and EU • 4 interest rate cuts • 384,000 jobs created • Deported 35,000 people with no right to be here • Expanded Free School Meals to half a million children • Opening free breakfast clubs • Wages grew more in our first 10 months than in last 10 years of Tory govt A lot done, a lot more to do, change has begun.

In the UK, after 14 years of Tories (and 14 increases) of interest rates, … we have now had 5 consecutive interest rate reductions under Labour. Looks increasingly like the chaos and confusion of the Old Lot has been replaced by quiet competence of the New.
