Today I paid tribute to the infected blood community for their extraordinary courage in their long fight for truth and justice. Thank you to the Infected Blood Memorial Committee for the care, compassion and dedication behind this service at St Paul’s Cathedral. As a nation, we must ensure the lessons of this scandal are never forgotten.

I condemn the deadly attack on a mosque in San Diego. My thoughts are with those affected. I know many Muslims in the UK will be shaken by this, worried about their safety when going about their lives and attending mosque, and what it says about the times we’re living in. I understand those fears. Violence like this does not happen in a vacuum. It grows in an environment where division and anti-Muslim hostility are normalised. That is intolerable. We must all come together against it.

I spent yesterday with young people with lived experience, ministers, international organisations, and charities to drive forward global action on children’s care reform - an issue that matters deeply to me.

New stats show we now have over 1,600 more teachers in our colleges & sixth forms. With the 2,300 more we have in our secondaries & special schools, Labour is on our way to recruiting 6,500 more expert teachers. We're turning the Tory tide on teacher recruitment & retention 📈

This is a reminder of what politics is really about. A Labour government delivering for working people and making sure all of our children get the best start in life.

The IMF upgrading its growth forecasts for the UK and backing our fiscal strategy is yet more proof that this Government has the right economic plan.

Labour is overhauling the youth justice system to stop young people being drawn into crime, create safer streets and tackle knife crime. After decades of Tory cuts to youth services, our reforms mean earlier intervention and faster responses to break the cycle of reoffending.

Free breakfast clubs help parents drop their kids off earlier and get into work, while saving them up to £450 per year, and they make sure children get a healthy start to the day. Reform want to shut them down.

The Unite the Kingdom march organisers are spreading hatred and division. They do not reflect the Britain I’m proud of. Peaceful protest is a fundamental right and one I will always protect. But if protest turns violent, we will act swiftly, with extra court capacity in place.

I’ll always champion peaceful protest. But the Unite the Kingdom march organisers are peddling hatred and division. We’ve already blocked visas for far-right agitators who want to come here to spew their extremist views. They don't speak for the decent, fair, respectful Britain I know.
