NC's 2026 legislative session is days away. There's chatter that some @NCGOP legislators are wanting to "get something done" soon, but changes are coming and @SenatorBerger gets a last chance to get some of us priorities approved, says @ChrisSinclair09 on State Lines. #ncpol

AI will reduce the number of people needed to do many white-collar functions, but it will also create new roles, elevate high-skill workers, and reshape—not eliminate—the professional workforce over the next decade. Yang has always argued for a universal income. That’s certainly his right. But this hyped piece provides another platform for his political message that he’s pushed for years. The reader should keep this context in mind as he/she read’s Yang’s thesis.

@cgtwts The theory now is AI replaces everyone with a laptop but plumbers and builders will thrive. Quick question: Whose houses are they building if the rest of us are unemployed? The robots? Let’s get real, folks.

Here’s how likely your job is to be replaced by AI: (data from karpathy.ai/jobs, scored 1-10) plumber: 1/10 carpenter: 2/10 firefighter: 1/10 nurse: 2/10 surgeon: 2/10 personal trainer: 2/10 chef: 2/10 teacher: 5/10 software developer: 5/10 real estate agent: 5/10 marketing manager: 5/10 accountant: 7/10 lawyer: 7/10 financial analyst: 7/10 HR specialist: 7/10 customer service rep: 9/10 cashier: 9/10 receptionist: 9/10 bookkeeper: 9/10 data entry clerk: 10/10 the pattern: if your job is mostly "take info in, process it, give info out" you're cooked. 💀 if your job requires being physically present or earning human trust in person, you're fine. source: karpathy.ai/jobs

most marketers don´t realize how exposed they are to AI. Karpathy scored every job in america on replacement risk. marketing landed at 5+. this is what I would be doing if I start from 0 🧵

5 minutes ago, @karpathy just dropped karpathy/jobs! he scraped every job in the US economy (342 occupations from BLS), scored each one's AI exposure 0-10 using an LLM, and visualized it as a treemap. if your whole job happens on a screen you're cooked. average score across all jobs is 5.3/10. software devs: 8-9. roofers: 0-1. medical transcriptionists: 10/10 💀 karpathy.ai/jobs

The uncomfortable truth nobody in the AI space wants to hear: If your entire job happens on a screen - you're not "using AI." AI is replacing you. @karpathy just scored every job in the US economy for AI exposure. Software devs: 8-9/10 Medical transcriptionists: 10/10 💀 Roofers: 0-1/10 Average across ALL jobs: 5.3/10 Here's the thing most people miss: The answer isn't to panic. It's to become the person who USES these tools - not the person being replaced BY them. The gap between "AI-assisted worker" and "worker being automated" is closing fast.

Get ready to lose your job. Andrej Karpathy co-founded OpenAI and ran Tesla's AI… now he downloaded and mapped every job in America by AI exposure… The results are not what you'd expect. $100K+ earners are the MOST exposed at 67% <$35K earners are the LEAST exposed at 34% Bachelor's degree only? Most exposed of any education level! $3.7 trillion in wages in the blast zone. The plumber is safer than the analyst. The janitor is safer than the executive.

This is WILD. Andrej Karpathy ranked every job in america by AI exposure > scraped 342 occupations from the bureau of labor statistics > used an LLM to score each job > built a treemap showing job size and AI risk main signal: fully digital work from home jobs are most exposed average score: 5.3/10 The whole thing is open source. Yeah, we’re cooked.

@cryptopunk7213 Using ChatGPT instead of a REALTOR® to sell your house is a little like fixing your own plumbing because you watched a YouTube video. Sometimes it works. But when the pipes burst, you’ll wish you had a professional standing there with a wrench.

i mean this story is insane. man used chatgpt to sell his house in 5 DAYS. got 5 offers in 72 hours. no real estate agents. saved so much money doing it too. he used AI to: > price the house (researched neighboring properties for sale) > wrote up the legal contracts (saving him $500/hr lawyers) > best part: MARKETED the fucking property for him (usually you pay estate agents for their network of buyers - ChatGPT did all of this) i honestly thought sales people would be hard for AI to replace (you need to know people) but apparently not
Dexerto@Dexerto

Florida man sold his house in just 5 days after letting ChatGPT handle the entire process instead of a real estate agent The AI handled pricing, marketing, showings, and even helped draft the contract

Karpathy scored every job in America on AI replacement risk. Then he deleted it. It went viral Last night. Elon replied. News outlets picked it up. So I brought it back to life. Cloned the entire repo to play with before it went down. Every file. The scoring data, the full pipeline, the interactive visualization. All of it. It's back up here: github.com/JoshKale/jobs The data was too noteworthy to let vanish. 342 occupations scored 0-10 on how much AI will reshape them. Average exposure across the entire US economy: 5.3/10. If your job lives on a screen, it's worth taking a look.

@wxbrad Totally fair to be concerned — ice storms are no joke. Just sharing what we’re seeing on the ground locally: very cold temps, lots of sleet, and slow ice buildup so far. Still watching radar and the late-day window, but it hasn’t behaved like a classic high-end ice event here.

In Charlotte we don’t even get above 27 until 5 pm. And there is very little of a warm nose. The winds are shifting to SW at that time as well. The weather men are down grading ice accretion. Asheville NC is a different story. They have a well defined warm nose. And they are getting the worst of the FZ rain.

🚨 URGENT WEATHER ALERT: THIS IS THE REAL DEAL 🚨 Folks, I cannot stress this enough: Please prepare now! We have all day today (Friday) and most of the daylight hours on Saturday to get ready. After that, the window closes. This is not a "bread and milk" situation—this is a major to extreme ice threat. We are looking at a setup we haven't seen in at least 10 years, and if the higher ice totals hold, we could be looking at something we haven't dealt with in 20 years (think back to the 2002 ice storm). Here is the reality of what is coming this weekend (Sat PM - Monday): 🧊 THE ICE THREAT Look at the maps attached. That pink and purple area isn't just "snow." It is freezing rain and heavy ice accumulation. The forecast shows potential for 0.25" to 0.75" of ice. What that means: At 0.25", tree limbs snap and power lines go down. At 0.50"+ (which is possible in the darker purple bands), we are talking about widespread, long-duration power outages and impassable roads. 🛑 IMPACTS: WHAT TO EXPECT POWER OUTAGES: This is my biggest concern. With ice accumulating on trees and lines, outages are likely. If you are in the high-risk zones, you need to be prepared to be without power for days, not hours. TRAVEL: By Saturday night, travel will likely become dangerous to impossible. Do not plan to be on the roads Sunday. If you get stuck in an ice storm, emergency crews may not be able to reach you quickly. TREES: The weight of the ice will bring down weak limbs and trees. If you have large trees over your driveway or home, be hyper-aware. ⏳ YOUR ACTION PLAN (DO THIS NOW): You have until Saturday evening to get this done. Do not wait. 1. CHARGE EVERYTHING: Phones, laptops, tablets, and power banks. Do it now while the grid is 100%. 2. HEAT: If the power goes out, how will you stay warm? Have blankets ready. If you have a fireplace, get wood. **NEVER** use a generator or grill indoors—carbon monoxide is a silent killer. 3. FOOD/WATER: You don't need to panic buy, but have enough food that doesn't require cooking (sandwiches, dry goods) and water for 72 hours. 4. MEDICAL: If you need prescriptions or oxygen, secure it today. The Bottom Line: This isn't a "fun snow day." This is a damaging ice event. We have been lucky for a long time, but the data is showing a setup that demands respect and preparation. Use today and tomorrow to prepare your family and check on your elderly neighbors, then stay off the roads once this starts. Stay safe, stay warm, and stay tuned for updates. #cltwx #ncwx #scwx #wcnc #iceOMG #icestorm #wxbrad
