Of course the only card you can manage is the metaphorical card. Which is irrelevant, as it speaks to the character of God, which is according to the nature of God, from whence the law of God is derived. If a man looks at another’s wife with lust has he physically sinned? No. He has only “metaphorically” sinned. Yet sinned all the same. Thusly a man can & should look to the character of God, who is Spirit, to arrive at that which is good & pleasing to God. God who is a “metaphorical” polygynist gives to His saints multiple wives, ( 2 Samuel 12:8 ) even opening & closing the wombs of each to produce the children He purposed. ( Genesis 30:1-24 ) Again, you speak according to your own understanding & not according to knowledge, the Word, or the Spirit.

Irony could kill you. Did God literally marry women, have sex with them, and bear children? Or is that a metaphor for becoming part of God's people? To answer your question, our world is steeped in sin, God knows that. The righteous people of the Bible were so because of their faith in him, not because they were perfect people. In fact, with few exceptions, they were all very troubled and prone to rather bad decisions.

Female virginity and male virginity are not even close to the same. Science and more importantly the Bible bear this out. I have no issue with men marrying women who have had sexual intercourse with men before their husbands. I do take issue with acting like virginity is meaningless and not of great value and difficult to maintain.

Before you start lifting up David as a paragon of moral virtue, you should actually read Samuel, Kings, and Chronicles and see that David was a train wreck when it came to interpersonal relationships. Pretty much anyone who came across his path had to suffer the grave consequences of doing so. His main redeeming quality is that he genuinely loved God, but at the expense of everyone else in his life.

You said in response to me; “I would never be with someone I’d have to demand faithfulness from. If he doesn’t freely give me his faithfulness, I don’t want him.” Your original post was about men demanding virgins women. A virgin would indicate chastity & sexual fidelity as a matter of definition. My post was about male sexual fidelity, ( which any wife, virgin or not would expect from her husband. ) Since a man that demands a virgin woman should not be entertained according to you, so then all the fruits that attend marriage should not be considered with respect to marriage to a woman who didn’t bring her value into the marriage. All that to say, you cannot demand that a man be contractually obligated in the bounds of marriage to have sex with you alone, then go even further to legally seize his property should he choose to take another woman to bed/wed. Marriage in modernity only favors women, it enforces all the privileges of a wife, while discounting the rights of a husband. So, no. You cannot enter into a marriage with the same expectations & bargaining power over a woman who kept her virginity for her husband. So if you, who freely gave yourself to other men before marriage, you cannot fault any husband who has “ fools around” on you with other women. He’s already offering more value than you did in that he’s now legally & morally obliged to support you financially.
