@THeRetro21 @Clapmaster420 @tasavalta For BBQ, Americans can wait for it. For some stuff they just need to keep the heat up, so you are not tending the meat all the time, just the fire. When I do long cooked meat, I do it in my electric oven. (I'm Norwegian, electricity is standard for us)

Take this with a grain of salt. It's not unlikely that this is evolved from trying to use "non-naughty" words. So you outer garments were kept in a closet/wardrobe, and underwear were kept in a drawer. Some places use "wardrobe" to describe one's outfit (most often all of their outfits, but some times I have seen it describing only one)

@learning_yohei So, I want to add that originally it was probably "underpants" British removed the "under" and the Americans dropped the "pants". (well, except for panties, that are smaller versions of underpants)
