The driver literally explained the situation immediately. The guy was learning the job, not hiding in the backseat with a ski mask. People act like every inconvenience is some criminal conspiracy now. You had every right to feel uncomfortable, sure. But the driver also had every right to tell you to cancel if you didn’t want the ride. What else was he supposed to do after already driving 15 minutes to your location? And let’s be honest, the ride probably wouldn’t even last 20 minutes. Sit in the back while the trainee stays in front. Problem solved. Some of you want the world to revolve entirely around your comfort while ignoring that drivers are humans trying to work too.

So I don't take Uber that often but today I needed a ride home and waited 15 minutes which was fine whatever. Car pulls up, I check the plate, it matches, I open the door. There are two men in the front seat. I stood there for a second genuinely confused thinking did I accidentally book a shared ride. I asked why is there another person here and the driver goes oh he's training, he's starting to drive for Uber next week so I'm showing him the ropes. I asked why the app didn't notify me that there would be an extra person in the car. He said they don't do that. I said I'm not comfortable taking this ride with two men I don't know and he looked at me and said if you're not comfortable you can cancel. So I cancelled. And then got charged a cancellation fee. I am so annoyed. You show up to.........

@CRH1LL @gwilkie80 @sportsiren But also the leaks about TTU literally recruiting players who hadn’t even said they were transferring yet. So gross and I feel that way about any team but it’s been clearly noted about TTU. Ruins college softball in every way.

@gwilkie80 @sportsiren To put it simply, It’s feels exploitative. It’s why people hate the Yankees/Dodgers. It’s not against the rules, just a really dishonest way to manipulate the system. TxTech specifically because they were never on that championship level before. Now, they bought their way there.

I'm such a @sportsiren Holly Rowe fan but I agree with Chris on this. In football Texas Tech spends less on their roster than Texas and several SEC teams yet all anyone talks about is TT "buying players". Now I'm seeing the same double-standard in softball when anyone affiliated with the sport should be thrilled that a major university is investing so heavily in their program -- especially in today's 'football-only' culture. Texas Tech should be applauded instead of having people throwing shade their way simply because they are going all in and winning. For years in football the bluebloods of the sport used bagmen to help build their rosters under the table. Now that comping players and NIL are legal the bluebloods of the sport can't stand having to play by the same rules as everyone else. Softball clearly has a little bit of that same blueblood arrogance, and the @GatorsSB softball team should be embarrassed for the "sore loser" mentality they displayed after the game today. No one faults these young ladies for being disappointed, but refusing to shake hands only reflects poorly on the University of Florida. Furthermore, @bethmowins ought to be relegated to high school sports for sharing in this arrogance during the broadcast. I'm a Michigan State alum, and like Texas Tech we've historically been chasing the bluebloods in our conference and nationally. The more success I see from Texas Tech the more I hope MSU's distinguished alumni are watching and learning from them so maybe we can join them as one of the "new bloods". In the meantime, here's a message for Beth Mowins and/or anyone else covering Tx Tech's games going forward: if you're not going to discuss how much Texas, Florida, or Ohio State are paying for their rosters then kindly STFU about how much Texas Tech is spending. Congrats to @TexasTechSB and good luck in the @WCWSsoftball ! #WCWS #RedRaiders #Gators #ESPN @espn #NCAA #softball

Well Chris 15 of 23 on one roster is higher than normal. It is context. Also Game 60 doesn’t matter. You can’t assume viewers have watched before. TV 101

One of the areas in which I differ quite a bit from a lot of folks on the right is the discourse on Mexican immigrants. I think most of the hatred for Mexicans comes from a terminally online component of the right that lives in cities/suburbs and doesn't have much actual interaction with Mexican immigrants. Because boy, once you've worked a blue collar job or been to some cookouts with these guys, a lot of the arguments being used against them just seem completely ridiculous. I work in the oilfield. A huge percentage of my coworkers and friends here are Mexican. These dudes are overwhelmingly Christian, super family oriented, incredibly hard working people. They go shooting or do rodeo on the weekends. They essentially personify all the values that the right champions. So it blows my mind that these guys specifically have somehow become the boogeyman to a large percentage of rightwing people, despite being aligned with them on almost everything. In my experience they are solidly good and freedom loving people putting in a ton of honest work to build a good life for their families. They are honestly doing a better job of perpetuating the American dream than a lot of white folks....like I'd rather have 1000 of these dudes in my town than 1000 white communist blue hair types.

Funny how Abdul loves shoving his religion and politics down America’s throat but melts down when his teammate Jackson Dart (@JaxsonDart) attends a Trump rally. The left are such hypocrites.

I really long for the old spirit of the Texas i grew up in. I miss how our endless open plains symbolized limitless personal freedom & that feeling of having tons of space to carve out your own destiny. I miss when the leather of our cowboy boots was as tough as our word & as strong as our diverse & vibrant communities. When religion was mostly for the Sunday folk but our integrity still held Mon thru Sat. Becuz even without church, most of us were raised to know right from wrong & taught that bootlicking meant you had no spine. I miss Ann Richards too. All that gumption & audacity & how she could put a man so squarely in his place if he didn't come correct. To us girls growing up here, she was the ultimate role model for learning how to be a boss lady in a world of men. Maybe i just sound like those other guys on the other side of the aisle, wistfully pining for a past that'll never come again... idgaf. But tech bros & sycophants & fake Christians with their megachurches are rotting my beloved state now. And i'm mourning it deeply like a death. 💔

Removing a four-term RINO is a bigger deal than most people realize. This isn't just 1/100 votes on the Senate floor, although that is already a big deal. The real impact is in the backrooms where all the deals are cut. If you can remove the loudest dissenting voices from the Senate committee chairs, the MAGA agenda suddenly leaps forward.

Wahhhh my husband tried to help overthrow the government and now I think taxpayers should give me their money for it 😭😭
Sara Radovanovitch@the_cats_meowww

We lost everything over J6. My husband, Jay Johnston, is an actor and comedian with a career spanning over three decades. A lifetime of work in the entertainment industry disappeared overnight, replaced with a campaign designed to banish us from society completely. Networks and studios publicly blacklisted him before any charges or arrest. He was fired from Bob’s Burgers and several other ongoing projects. Theaters around Los Angeles put messages up on their marquees. Social media filled up with thousands of death threats and hateful messages. Friends disappeared. We were de-banked. Everything we ever worked for was gone. He went from working in Hollywood for decades to doing handyman jobs just to survive. Federal agents raided our home at dawn. They dragged us out of bed in our underwear at gunpoint and forced him to kneel in the dirt while the entire neighborhood watched. The government and media worked together to destroy us. I lost my career even though I wasn’t there that day. Our daughter, who was only 11 and has autism, was kicked out of her special needs programs. School administrators denied us. Other parents boycotted us and wouldn’t let their kids near her. She was placed on the Quiet Skies terrorist watchlist and subjected to repeated invasive searches at the airport. The sensory overload was so bad we couldn’t take her to visit her grandfather while he was going through cancer treatment. Our story is not unique. Hundreds of other families went through similar nightmares. Some lost their homes, businesses, marriages, and children. Military benefits gone. Fathers spent years in prison. Many were in solitary confinement, denied medical care and religious services, missing funerals and family milestones. The stress destroyed their health. Some J6ers even took their own lives. It’s time for restitution. Every ruined life, every traumatized child, and every stolen year demands full accountability and fair compensation. The amounts must reflect the true, permanent damage done - lost careers that spanned decades, destroyed futures, and irreplaceable family time - so victims are made whole, not given token settlements.
