Another stupid thing about the discourse around mixed tape is the dialogue people going “ that’s not how teenagers talked in the 90s” Duh! Pre-Internet the way teenagers spoke would have been pretty localised I mean it still is really I’d love to hear a language expert talk 90s

This article is actually brilliant. I think it does miss one or two things though. Mainly that I think from her perspective she is an un impressive somewhat bratty teenager who is forcing herself into the adult world because she’s scared of wasting time

@Alison_is_lost I don’t think that’s what the game was going for, but nostalgia is kinda like that. It is nice to experience it and it can bring up some feelings but it is never very substantial. The game feels more like somebody looking back over the last day of their childhood

That's not the issue, the problem is that the game struggles to make her flaws compelling. There's no self-interrogation, there's no meaningful conflict, there's no character study. She acts like a self-centered asshole and narrative lets her get away with it, that's it.

@Alison_is_lost My interpretation is that she is a fairly normal 17-year-old from a stable background, but she doesn’t feel very impressive so she is trying to gaslight herself into doing something major to force herself to become more adult by moving to New York that’s about as deep as I can go
