Our national parks cannot be asked to do more with less. Protecting them means investing in the workforce that sustains them, addressing long-overdue maintenance, and preserving the history they carry.
That was the focus of this morning’s National Parks Conservation Association Advocacy Day Breakfast here in our nation’s capital. I’m grateful for my friends at @NPCA and their partnership over the years, working together to turn stewardship into action.
In 2020, after years of watching critical needs mount across our national parks, we took decisive action through the bipartisan Great American Outdoors Act—the landmark legislation I led to permanently fund LWCF and create the Legacy Restoration Fund to begin tackling long-overdue maintenance. But this is an ongoing responsibility. And today, alongside the NPCA, I am continuing that fight by pushing for strong Interior appropriations, protecting the integrity of LWCF, extending the LRF, and ensuring the National Park Service workforce has the support it needs to preserve our national treasures for generations to come.
Thank you to the NPCA team for your continued partnership and special shout out to my friend Tiernan Sittenfeld, President & CEO, for the exceptional leadership you bring to this mission every day.
