A no flap + gear up landing on a 737 or any Jet for that matter is a Check Mate situation. High approach speeds mean a high energy state. A no flap landing is one of the rare cases where you also need to worry about the tyre ground speed limit of 195 knots. Next to no directional control once the plane slows down and the rudder loses authority. No runway would be long enough. No runway would be wide enough.

Reading the NY Subway horror story from today is a bit too close to home for me. :/ I only spent 2 years living in NYC but I spent these two years in Brooklyn and the F train was our regular train. My husband used to take it to work daily and I was using it nearly every day as well. I was freelancing and mostly working from home back then but still, it was the one I used to take the most. As anyone living in Brooklyn, I’ve been to Coney Island multiple times and I’m obviously familiar with the location where this horrific incident happened. Many New Yorkers have been telling me about how the city has become pretty unsafe lately and I’m really glad my kids don’t have to live anywhere near there right now. One day I do want to take them there to visit museums etc., but I guess we will have to carefully assess our options before taking them to some of the neighborhoods we used to call home. :/
