The are currently vacancies for Tenor lay clerks at Winchester Cathedral, Lincoln Cathedral, Tewkesbury Abbey, Lichfield Cathedral and Guildford Cathedral (x2). At what point do we declare some kind of national emergency?

(I figured it was a good word for eliminating a range of common letters!)

This was my attempted starter word on Day 1 of 6-letter Byrdle, and I had to send @rbrignall a DM asking why on earth it was coming up as “not in word list”! Byrdle 128 3/7 ⚪🟡⚪⚪🟡⚪ 🟡⚪🟡🟡🟢🟡 🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢🟢

Hugo’s so excited about singing the solo in this, sharing the performances with his friend Ben!

90 years ago today Carl Nielsen died here at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen, which is also where my son was born 10 hours ago. And some people still don't think the world revolves around Nordic composers...

@PatrickAllies Exactly what I thought about the range! All current “music” for children is too low for their voices. From nursery rhymes at baby groups to “worship songs” in assemblies, I rant about it all the time and nobody cares!

Sorry to be a musicologist on main, but the descending scale at the words “and we have one dream”, slightly too low for the children’s voices, isn’t very… uplifting?

@SueAllan2 @RevRichardColes Brilliant! I’ve found this school-age Latin really useful, even for myself - but for me nothing beats singing in Latin!

@SueAllan2 @RevRichardColes I’ve been teaching my children Latin using Oak Online Academy (starting with Year 7 Latin which takes you from the very beginning). The only thing that confuses me is that my Latin is entirely self-taught through singing and is pronounced totally differently!

@RevRichardColes I'm trying to teach myself Latin. Can you speak "conversational" Latin, or just the parts from Mass? I remember Mass Latin from school days, but trying to relearn as a language. Any tips?

@StevenIsserlis @BBCRadio3 I’ve always tried so hard to like Strauss. I can appreciate there is beauty and skill in his music but I can’t listen to it easily. Having a horn-player husband means there can be disagreement in Mozart v Strauss, so it’s good to read these comments!

Hearing the trios from Cosi Fan Tutte & Rosenkavalier back-to-back on @BBCRadio3: Of COURSE the Strauss is beautiful; but I can't rid myself of the image of him deftly creating beauty, while it just flows out of Mozart. Or maybe: Strauss paints beauty, Mozart IS beauty. Discuss?
