I think one of the biggest lies we’ve told kids is that good grades guarantee success. I know plenty of people who got great grades but aren’t all that successful, and plenty who had average or even bad grades and are thriving. Grades don’t determine your future. They’re just one small piece of the puzzle. And with so much grade inflation, they’ve lost a lot of their value anyway. We need an education system that focuses on learning because it’s valuable—not because it earns a number.
