I'm going to be brutally honest I don't think Obsession is all that successful as a film about misogyny, I think what makes it much more jaggedly interesting is how it accidentally becomes about the limitations of the young male auteur in effectively dealing with it as a topic

Hay una teoría de The Boys que dice que The Deep padecía de esquizofrenia, y lo único que hacia era controlar los peces, ya que estos no tienen neocortex, parte del cerebro encargada de la conciencia y el lenguaje. Osea que The Deep se odiaba tanto así mismo, que inconscientemente ordenó que sus peces los mataran, y todo este tiempo imaginó que hablaba con ellos. Su relación con los peces solo era un reflejo de la percepción que tenía de si mismo, la cual cambia con el pasar de la serie y su degradación moral, pasando de ser respetado, a ser un pervertido, a odiarse a si mismo por ser un asesino y ya no querer seguir viviendo.
