Civil wars happen when *capital* turns on itself, elite factions & rival power centers organize against each other & fight for control of the central authority. Not random normies getting mad at each other online, rubes scuffling in Portland, Boomer LARPsurrectionists cosplaying insurrection at the Capitol, etc. or any of that. And we’re not seeing anything like it. If anything, American elites are much more unified today than at most other points in U.S. history, across every region, power center, capital formation center, etc. What we have might be called a “cold civil war”, as it were, in which each side views the other as wicked & reprehensible. But that’s nothing new. Beyond the last 30 years of *extremely unusual* peace and prosperity, it has largely always been the case, as recently as the Civil Rights era. Low-level street violence seems here to stay (ANTIFA maggots, Boomer LARPsurrectionist Cap Hill cosplayers). But this is the furthest thing from a legitimate civil war. The impotent Boomer Larpo-factions on the right especially don’t have the capital, industrial base, power, influence, IQ, or technological capacity to pose a serious threat to centralized state power.

If this were a requirement to vote, don’t you think that they would have created legislation to allow land to be more affordable to working Americans? Don’t you think that they would have added a provision to allow Native Americans living on reservations to vote? When you are comparing the current standard to the hypothetical one, you cannot assume that the hypothetical wouldn’t have created a new path with new legislative priorities based upon that first difference in standard. Maybe land would have been managed differently. Maybe homes would have been made more affordable and prioritized over apartments. Maybe taxes would have been better scrutinized because affordability would have been a higher priority. Maybe the federal income tax (16th Amendment) would have never passed if more Americans were property owners and had to worry about paying more expenses per year to care for their property. That one change would have created a much different country than today - of that I can guarantee.

If you, for example, allowed an intelligence test as a requirement, they would give the test once a month, at a testing facility one hundred miles from most people, require a new test for every gun, charge 80,000 yen to take the test, take six months to score it, and maintain government lists of every person who ever passed the test, because they might have guns. I know you intended no rudeness, but please don't suggest things like this. The right of people to keep and bear arms is one of our most fundamental values, and it is under attack. Don't help.
