@hunterco That’s not bad. I do summer track so the workload adjusts based on who is running where (county, states, nationals) but when everything ends, I tell them to take 2 weeks off of any hard work. Let their bodies reset

If I were an AD, I’d create a 1 week minimum no practice policy for athletes that finish a season before they can start another sport. 1 week should not put any team or athlete “behind” and should not affect playing time, starting lineups… etc especially for sports that don’t officially start for months!

Last season's ceiling became this season's floor because you worked HARD to make it so. And for next year, you've got a goal that I know you're hungry to achieve. Not enough words to tell you how proud I am of you. Big Sumthin, your (5) STARS shine bright! #StatePodium2027

As a coach, we can’t just DEMAND high-quality work, we must intentionally engineer it. You can’t perform on a base of high-volume fatigue. Tired is the enemy.

Why do they prefer grass? The 92% preference isn’t just opinion—it’s backed by NFLPA analysis of NFL injury tracking showing turf correlates with higher rates of certain lower-body injuries + plus players direct experience. 1. Non-contact lower extremity injuries: 28% higher rate on artificial turf vs. natural grass. 2. Non-contact knee injuries: 32% higher on turf. 3. Non-contact foot/ankle injuries: 69% higher on turf. 4. Injury rate: 1.22 per game on natural grass vs. 1.42 per game on artificial turf. 5. Odds of a season-ending injury requiring surgery were 60% higher on turf (odds ratio 1.60). [source NFLPA] Players consistently report their bodies feel better the next day on grass because grass feels less punishing on the body—less joint stiffness and overall wear.

The NCAA Clearing house requires a 2.3 core GPA. I’ll go slow. 3 Ds and an F is “eligible” to play in high school but that GPA is 0.75. 2 Bs and 2 Cs is a 2.5 for comparison. You can be All conf, All area, and All world but they can’t take less than 2.3 core GPA. 🤷‍♂️

@I_Coach_Speed @TexasTrackDad @KingRedrick I agree. I don’t know many top athletes in the ncaa rn that didn’t compete in summer track of their senior year. Taking off a summer does not guarantee you will adjust to the work load and academics. Bad thing to go into freshman fall out of shape
