“I do not like losing but I’m not afraid to lose. I learn from losing,” Michael Jordan If the standard is daily growth, then adversity becomes part of the process and winning becomes part of the culture.

You don't always get the path you want. But you will always get the path that will challenge and develop you. It's gratitude that makes the difference between going through something and growing through something.

"Modern Football in the NFL is Quarterback driven. You can look at the analytics... QB Success is a higher predictor of winning and losing than Turnover Ratio." - Ben Johnson

The most undercoached skill in your program? Effort. TJ McConnell said it best: “I genuinely believe that playing hard is a skill, because if it wasn’t, everyone would do it.” You can’t just demand it. You have to develop it. x.com/OldManAndThree…

Coach K on accountability and holding everyone, including your star players, to the standard. "It's called accountability. Holding a player accountable to play up to their individual potential." You can't hold someone to a standard you and they haven't defined. You don’t hold players accountable to you. You hold them accountable to the version of themselves they said they want to become. Step 1: Define who they want to become. Step 2: Create a shared agreement on the standard. Step 3: Then coach them to it, every day (not just when it's easy). 📹: Pat McAfee Show

Mike McDaniel and Chris Foerster on what it actually means to build something from scratch, and why most NFL offenses are copying plays they don't understand. -When Washington drafted RG3, nobody in the NFL had a blueprint for the zone read at that level. They built one from nothing. That process is why all of those coaches advanced and flourished. -"Majority of NFL [coaches] trying to find success don't have that foundation, so they're copying plays and don't know why." Know your why. Everything else follows

Most coordinators don’t actually have a system. They have a collection of calls they hope hold up. A real system answers: • what are we seeing • what stresses us • how we adjust If those answers aren’t clear… it breaks fast.

There’s a difference between simply wearing the uniform and truly honoring it. The uniform has meaning because the people before you gave it meaning. It’s a privilege to put it on, but it's also a responsibility.

Joe Mazzulla explained why he often credits others rather than himself. Worth a listen: “I think being a D1 basketball player, you grow up with this sense of entitlement, as if the whole world revolves around you. And…if I wanted to be a better husband, a better father, a better coach, I had to get rid of that type of entitlement.” Q @JackSimoneNBA

Chris Petersen on why great coaching starts with leading yourself first. “You can’t give away what you don’t possess.” Coaches often ask how to develop better habits, focus, self-awareness, and resilience in their players. The uncomfortable answer is that it starts with you. You won’t be able to sustainably lead people past the work you’re unwilling to do yourself. 🎥Source: Win More, Live Better Podcast (Ep. 81)

Mike Shanahan shares the truth about coaching that nobody talks about. "If you're in coaching, the journey is never easy, but you've got to fight through it. You're going to have the highest highs and the lowest lows." "Tough times don't last, tough people do." That's the reality - there will be ups and downs. To accomplish anything, you need resilience and grit to get there. The journey isn't supposed to be easy - it's supposed to be worth it.
