I played for Coach Pitino at Kentucky. And yes that’s the best way because that’s his way & it works. Always have worked. If you played for him you would know to just listen to the words, not the tone. The tone is the energy he gives you. Soak it in & you will get better

@PaulZeise @bballbreakdown @Reghanson Paul 👌. Lot of players come from their "upbringing" in hoops in environments with coaches that communicate like Coach Pitino. Being from Baltimore, our coaches were direct and brought it like this. We didn't blink. Just like parenting, a lot of styles that work. @Coach__Strick

@bballbreakdown @Reghanson Many players actually want to be coached hard and appreciate this kind of interaction and it does get them to dig in and play harder. It is not for every player and those that don’t like it, don’t go to St John’s or Michigan State or UConn…..

Former aau teammate of mine. Not sure how much it added to this but my guy wore a weight vest all day everyday expect during games lol practiced all summer in it. Unreal athlete & competitor. DC guy but came to play with us in Baltimore for his last couple seasons of aau.
