The most impressive round I've ever seen on the Straits took place in 2020. Player is a member at Philly Cricket, and as the Tour makes a stop there he's on my mind His group played a round in the morning on the Irish Course. We met for what was the second loop of that Friday for all of us. They were already well-lubricated. All of the guys were pretty good and cool, but this particular player was on fire. Kept his buzz going with a double cocktail at each opportunity (five stops at the cart in all). While most guys fizzle out and get a bit annoying after that many drinks, somehow this guy got funnier and more endearing. And even better at golf. He checked in to the Clubhouse that night with a 69 from the blue tees. A hammered three under par. After the round, his group filed into the caddie bar for more antics. Pictured below. They asked me and the other caddie to go again early Sunday. I said, "I'm not sure we can recreate the magic, fellas." Especially since I knew they were gonna be up and at em early on Saturday for an all day outing in Milwaukee. I reluctantly agreed because the money was good, but I was fully expecting for the round to not be as fun. Lo and behold, Sunday morning there are the guys still going strong. And player A, while not quite as sauced as two nights earlier, once again shot a 69. This time with a much heartier wind. I still think about those two days. And I talk about that player whenever someone asks what the best round I've ever seen was. Have had multiple players from the Philly area know of him or know him directly. But even they didn't get to enjoy what me and my caddie brother did that weekend.
